Brumbies 2025

Major Tom

Phil Hardcastle (33)
Toole released from the main squad and David Feliuai, Lington Ieli, Ryan Lonergan and Rory Scott from the training squad to prep for the Lions game.
I didn’t realise that Lington Leli was in the squad in the first place. Maybe he’s picked Aus over Fiji.

Slim 293

George Smith (75)
Definitely no Charlie Cale for the Lions...

He's done for the year:

The 24-year-old, who is on the verge of signing a new Brumbies deal, hasn't played a game since March after having his season derailed by stress fractures.

There was hope he would be fit for the Super Rugby finals. When that deadline passed, the Lions became the new target.

But with Cale still struggling to get back to full-contact training, the Brumbies have opted for a cautious approach with his rehabilitation.

That means he will skip the Super Rugby AU competition later in the coming months with the view to having him fully fit for the start of pre-season training in November.

Wilson

Tim Horan (67)
Jack Debreczeni finishing up after the Lions game. Unclear in the Brumbies instagram post if he's going elsewhere or just retiring, but I believe he had been considering retirement.

Wallaby Way

Herbert Moran (7)
The Canberra times mentioned his wife is in Sydney (living apart) so suggest it's there somewhere.

Hopefully Joe Dillion can step up and maybe get some time off the bench in the Oz Super Comp.

Brumby Runner

Jason Little (69)
I'd like to see Chase Oates get some game time in the SRAU comp. He had game time earlier in the year with the A team which I would venture is a higher level than U20s.

Incidentally, his brother Kye had an appearance or two with the Brumbies trial sides before the season got underway and was pretty impressive on the wing. Maybe a possibility of seeing both during the upcoming competition.

I feel like it's a cop out to simplify brumbies 2012/13 as boring rugby. There were some great tries and after the utter embarrassment of 2011 there was a clean out and rebuild needed that I dont think that anyone but a hard-nosed saffa would have had the brazenness to do so. Epsom and Hoiles exemplified everything about the slide in standards post 2005 (injured and couldn't be bothered showing up with the squad to games).
Thanks Jake, your a weird bit of gear and absolutely had a dummy spit (rare self awareness) but I wish I could shake your hand and thank you for fixing the brumbies and setting us up to be the puppy-killers making finals year after year after year.

What was the go with Hoiles? I always thought he was a good influence down in Brumbyland?
