Some of these boys will be looking good for having a rugby holiday in the boarding houses at Riverview in the first week of July while they attend ASRU National Champs.

I believe Jack Bassett graduated last year in 2013 and will not be returning. In which case i would have Barkley-Brown at fullback and Watson at outside centre, their natural positions. I would also predict Mclennan (T) wearing the no.1 jersey in CAS 1 this year

Ncfooty, if you must pursue this why not use the final selected (2013) CAS teams? Not the trial sides you put up. Your selections are unhelpful at this stage as it is impossible to predict who might be selected this year and unfortunate that you would start speculating before the teams have even had an official run. You have not considered any of last years U16's.

These final CAS 2013 sides are copied from the CAS website as it stands.

Open CAS team to play GPS on Tuesday 18th June @ Knox 1 ( as of 17th June – 6.28pm )

I think that Sukhman Bhinder, the basketball legend at Knox will be making a massive difference to the Knox 1st side. Was once a long distance runner for barker; as skinny as an Ethiopian but as strong as Thor himself, he will be introducing a strong tactical performance at Fullback taking the place of Lucas Price

True, Augustine's are very good, but they've played Waverley on an annual basis for a while now and all the Augustine's people I spoke to on Sunday at club couldn't believe how lopsided some of the games were. There didn't seem to be a lot of tackling going on in the clip.

I mean 82-0, that's the sort of scores that High and Grammar were getting beaten by before they pulled out of GPS 1sts.

I believe that Riverview play Augustine's next term.

Still talking about waverley v Augustine's! ?

These videos always strike me as self indulgent

No two ways about it , st Augustine's rugby is very good

But they are much the same as scots... Cheque book rugby

They were complaining a few years back that newington were poaching their players ... Even wrote a letter, to a headmaster

Pot calling kettle black

Well I know for a fact that a recent Aussie school boy from st Augs was poached from another catholic school and the offer was, you just pay what you are already paying

So like scots I fell sorry for the second graders... Looks like pappa has assembled the usual team of monsters

And for the record st Augustine's had their lower grades mismatched, by putting their c teams versus ds, etc

So st augs shouldn't get too cocky ... Oakhill are equally strong, and might yet win

I look forward to your match reports in the GPS threads this year.
I'm tipping you will fall off the face of the earth,as the reality of using home grown talent to compete becomes a horrible reality.
Seeing this is a CAS thread,I predict poor old Waverley could still put 50 on the new almost "clean" Newington.

Now that would be an interesting clash - on the field and off, St Augustines v Scots.

Does anyone know the result of the Trinity/ St Pats game?
As Knox will be playing St Pats on the 26th it may give some idea of the relative strength of some of the CAS schools before the competition starts.

@Elfster, from the ISA thread.
What a thriller down at Breen Oval today with Pat's very lucky to escape with a win, 14-10. Some stand out performances from Pat Calavassy (#7) who is in the under 16's this year, Benet James, Joseph Carbo, Nathan Taweel, Matthew Thomas, Joshua Nohra and Albert Jenson. The Pat's front-row as a whole must be commended for bringing some much needed aggression and sticking it to the Trinity forwards. Benet James and Carbo provided the go forward and momentum needed to spark such a comeback. A very unlucky lose for Trinity today. Their #13, #9, #1, and #8 had solid performances.

Pat's went down to Trinity 19-12 in the seconds.

They actually played a trial in 2012,but Auggies spoilt the day by flogging them by 50.
So we won't be doing that again......

@Elfster, from the ISA thread.
The referee disallowed the last goal after both assistants called it in! 12/10 final score. Having said that it was the only decision that went to Trinity all afternoon. Most rugby fans want to see the game played, not forwards lying all over the ball, sealing it off and slowing play with the referees taciturn agreement. Trinity looked ok but continually shot themselves in the foot and probably would have won if they elected to take penalty goals at the death ...but it is only a trial. 13- Justin Fish 9-Angus Humphreys 1-Harry McLennan 8-Michael Goritsas.

same goes for James Lough an old Barker boy who was poached when he was only in year 8 or 9. He should be playing somewhere in the back row for Augustines 1s this year and I heard he played nsw schoolboys last year while he was in year 11

People earlier hinted on this thread that Rugby wasn't even the most popular sport at Augustines. What I don't understand is why you would import players, at the 14's level, for a code that isn't the most popular at the school
