Half time score in CAS 1st XV v AAGPS 1st XV ..17-12 to CAS 1st XV.

Nek minnit it's full time and it's a 48- 17 win to AAGPS 1st XV.

CAS 1sts acquitted themselves quite well despite a score line that appears a little one sided. The CAS team bounced back well from a GPS try within the first few minutes of the game. They really took it to GPS and it was try for try for the first 30min. The only difference was that GPSs tries appeared a little more slick through their backline.
In the 2nd half GPS attacked several times through the 10/12 channel breaking through and resulting in tries. They also spun it wide to Jaffer- Williams who really has some wheels. CASs Hugh Margin had a brilliant game, as did Kemeny.

Commendable effort by the 2's today. Specifically (13) Pete Slaven and (9) Leo Bosche.. Really lead their backs well, should certainly be in the mix for a run in the 1's

The win in 2nds and the competitiveness of 1sts should be cause for many congratulations to players, selectors and coaches.
Well done you lot.

True. Many thought both teams would be well beaten so its a positive for CAS rugby. There were quite a few players out injured as well and not available for selection.

The 2nds played a great game to defeat their favoured opponents. It was an impressive team effort.

The 1sts should be disappointed but can take a lot out of the game. They were competitive for 70% of the match but unfortunately made some errors which the very quick GPS backs capitalised on.
CAS made more simple mistakes than GPS who were more clinical. With the wind at their backs going into the second half they had the advantage and were a little unlucky not to score again. If they did score first in the second half (a big if) it may have changed the game and they may not have appeared to have tired so easily. They would have lifted.
They were still in it at 26-17 but then it blew out and GPS dominated.
Perhaps they needed to play a better tactical kicking game in the second half and it's something that may be looked at for Friday's games.
But overall, they can take a lot of positives out of the game and even though the score blew out it wasn't a whitewash as expected by many tipsters.
They should be feeling confident for Friday's games.

A great summary, some missed chances and a fantastic effort from the 2nds. The tactic of using the wind and the sun advantage in the 2nds worked a treat, would be interesting to know what the tactics were in 1sts from a different set of coaches???

All in all a great day of rugby, am sure there will be a lot of boys from all sides nursing bumps and bruises. It is a shame that the score blew out in the last 15 minutes, maybe some fresher legs would have helped...

CAS 2nds win 17-10.

Standouts

Stead, Stocks, Wright.

Stead was dominant in attack and defense, Stocks pushed his cred as a potential NSW winger selection and Wright ran rampant through the other forward pack.

1sts lose on the bell 39-38.

Standouts

Jordan, Mohi, Kemeny, Longville.

The backs showed some class with the ball.

The firsts were a better team on the day, but ISA took their opportunities and scored three quick tries on the wing of the other winger who found himself out of position and scored a near full field try on the bell for the win.

Some of forwards were losing possession of the ball too easily and not working hard enough on the deck.

Set piece in the firsts incredible. They won nearly every lineout and dominated the scrum. Rasch, Frost and Kemmeny were integral to the lineout success. Smith and Grindal out scrummaged their opponents all day, but the tight five didn't offer the same around the paddock as their opposite numbers. The ISA back row of 6, 7 and 8 were outstanding in their work on the ball.

Seconds struggled to win their ball on the lineout but dominated the scrum.

The 10 and 6 for ISA standouts as well and should be in one of the NSW teams somewhere. CCC 10 looked OK, but not at the standards from last year.

Sounds like a brilliant game ! No surprise the likes of Mohi, Longville and Jordan playing well with their form this season, also similarly with ISA 10 and back row. I have heard plenty about them in the ISA feed and from my friends within the ISA.
Wish I was at the game!!!!

I thought the ISA 2 and 7 were way and above their better players, have to concur re ball security and too many boys not wanting to do the meat and potatoes work for CAS.
Armstrong again was outstanding

9 from CAS the standout definitely. Hinganu(7) and Lamph(6) were the best for ISA and pushed their names into contentions for NSW. CAS had the better backs(except for CAS 10 who was pretty poor), with the 9, 11 and 15 the best of the bunch. ISA had the better forwards except for set piece.
