Force 2023

To move to Ireland and keep himself eligible isnt I expect about the easiest path to a RWC. It’s not like anyone has 9 locked down in Aus at the moment and there are some pretty bloody handy 9’s in Ireland.
I think what there is to be read from this is he’s a passionate Irishman. So good luck to the lad.
Jamison Gibson-Park is Ireland's #1 9.

We all witnessed him play for the Blues.

McDonald has signed with Ulster for one year

Joining Ulster on a one-year deal, scrum half Michael McDonald will arrive in the province from Super Rugby side, Western Force, in time for this summer’s pre-season campaign.

Born in Louth, the 23-year-old McDonald spent his childhood years playing at Dundalk RFC, before moving to Perth in Australia at the age of 13.

He moved up the ranks to make his senior debut for Western Force in the Rapid Rugby tournament at the age of 19. He then played for the Junior Wallabies, lining out against Ireland on the way to reaching the World Rugby U-20 Championship final in 2019.

Nothing official but this would be a massive signing for the club.

A signing they need as well, besides Mataele the backline struggled to get over the gain line this year. Another bigger body can’t hurt

Strange for Robertson to go from being behind Gordon and maybe Goddard to being behind Prior and Fines as a move looking for more opportunity.

Happy to have Rona back but am a little perplexed by the Prior signing. I was half expecting him to retire at the end of the season just gone.

Other than a post from the Rugby Bloke on Instagram there hasn't been much reporting on Rona to the Force. Is he a reliable source, would think the Force would announce something as supporters are acting like its already a done deal?

Robertson in for Mcdonald is a net win for the Force.

I know Tahs officials certainly rated Robertson over McDonald when he was let go at the end of the 2020 season.

Obviously two years ago now, but McDonald has spent the majority of that time on the injured list. Robertson has a handful of Tahs caps behind Jake Gordon and is currently killing it in the Shute Shield for Uni

Looks like there is competition for Rona:
.......

Stade have unveiled 13 new recruits for the 2022/23 season, but Midi have also linked them with potentially bringing in Francis Saili, another ex-All Blacks midfielder, or Curtis Rona, the former Wallabies player who is currently at London Irish. “We need a centre and we have a few options,” continued Wild. “Francis Saili (still under contract in Biarritz where he hasn’t resumed training), is one of those. In this regard, a decision will be made within a week.”

The newspaper added: “If the Saili track could not be completed (Biarritz would require several hundred thousand euros for the purchase of the player’s remaining two years of contract), the Australian Curtis Rona (London Irish) could interest the Parisians.”

From Nick Taylor at the The West:

.... They are waiting for an answer from homegrown Wallabies centre Curtis Rona who has left London Irish.

Rona, who has also had offer an offer from French club Vannes, played for Wanneroo, WA junior sides and joined the Force in 2016, making 14 appearances.

He moved to the Waratahs when the Force was axed before heading to London Irish three years ago.

I think it makes sense. He'll be a good chance of being in the first choice 23 at the Force. Has a nore rounded game that Fines and Prior and a higher ceiling. Would have been clear 3rd choice at tahs with Gordon, Goddard and Wilson as DC's favourites.
