It's a false equivalency and you have to be the most one-eyed, parochial fan to not see that.
Hooper gets carded for playing hard to the whistle and occasionally getting caught out because of it (Argentina card where he collides with the kicker trying to block a clearance, Etzebeth tackle where he hits him in the legs and Etzebeth jumps/flips over him). Cooper gets carded because he's effectively retarded in the contact zone and actively strikes at the head/neck area of other players.. the nature of the cards they've received are dramatically different.
QC (Quade Cooper) is the most carded playmaker IN THE HISTORY OF TEST RUGBY. There are only TWO other backs in the entire Top 30 for yellows in test rugby. It's not even a question that QC (Quade Cooper) has had an untenable risk profile in test rugby over the last 2-3 years and it's to the point where it's not totally shocking he's been consistently left out in favor of carrying a second specialist flyhalf in the squad - he has been that diabolical over the last few years.
In the past you could run the ball at QC (Quade Cooper) knowing you'd make or pass the ad line and get quick ball on the next phase, now you can run the ball at QC (Quade Cooper) knowing there's a really good fucking chance he sends himself off and you get to play a rudderless, 14 man side for the next 10 minutes (or the rest of the match).
It's not a conspiracy and QC (Quade Cooper) did this to himself when he regressed in the contact zone as opposed to getting better after half a decade+ of test rugby under his belt. Comparing a loose forward card count to that of your flyhalf as if that doesn't prove the point that QC (Quade Cooper) is a massive liability in his position was rich, though.
In Test rugby the difference between a successful and poor season is often the difference between winning and losing a single match (think about the Spring Tour - how different is it if we beat England as opposed to losing to them in spite of what happens in any of the other matches?). QC (Quade Cooper) does not have anywhere near the upside anymore to justify his enormous (and proven) risk profile in a level of sport with such fine margins for success.
