Impressive effort by New captain, no 8 Dylan Simmons for playing through popped rib cartilage for the last 20 mins of the game against Joeys.

Just watched replay on streamer. Was a great game. The 13 from Joeys - Rory O'Connor - is some player - hoping he is signed up to the right code.

I heard the Kings chant started because Scots pinched the shield? All just banter.

to sum it up, a young Scot’s boy went and stole the king’s shield, after this the war cry captain went and got it back while being boed by Scot’s kids.

a year 12 in the kings crowd not the war cry captain or any prefects began a chant “Scot’s are wankers” (said at a majority of games from opposing GPS schools, does not make it okay)

this was not taken lightly by the Kings head off senior school who let off on his boys and told them this is not acceptable behaviour by any kings men and we are here to support the 1st xv.

Overall the situation was handled and definitely nothing worth a crazy reaction about, Scot’s fans should probably keep the story out of their mouths due to the constant racial abuse reported from fans to players on opposing schools.

Will Simmons be fit for round 3? I'm not sure how long the recovery is for that, but it seems like a worry if not treated with care.

Not sure. It was announced in the DOR weekly wrap up that was sent out today so not even sure of how bad it is. Its one of those injuries if you can play through the pain, you cant actually make worse, so it isn't unheard of to stop playing. He will definitely be looked after but he is a tough hombre.

Would love to see Shore team lists as soon as possible as it should be interesting as Callaghan is back and Galligan out (most likely). I obviously understand that it is only Monday, and the players probably don't even know the team yet either. @wisemaan work your magic.

Does anyone have the results for the 3rd XV Kings v Riverview game? Heard it was a close one. Interesting to see if the Kings have made any improvements or adjustments since the other weeks then when got schooled by Scots. Should be a good one to watch on the Scots Main as the competition finally commences.

Yours truthfully, honourably and sincerely

I understand the Newington booing was disrespectful and it seemed an coach/teacher told the crowd off, however there was a Newington player on the ground injured for a significant amount of time and play wasn't stopped. This then resulted in a try for Joeys down the left hand side with a one man overlap. Obviously missed by the referee and the touch-line referees too. Hard to excuse booing, particularly in schoolboy rugby, yet a somewhat warranted overreaction from the Newington crowd.

I thought most crowds on the weekend were good.

I was pleased to see a good chunk of Shoremen out at Bellevue Hill, well voiced and great cheering from all.

Even the Newboys made the treacherous journey from Stanmore to Hunters Hill. The Iggies men are always good on the sidelines.

The standard is high for crowds this year. Lovely.

Not just for this weekend but a general crowd ranking:
1. Joeys/shore
2. Joeys/shore
3. View
4. Kings
5. Scots
6. New

The reason I've got Joeys and shore up the top together is shore usally has less crowd than the boys from hunters hill but the more. This is because its not compulsory for the blue and white men. Joeys always produce the numbers as its compulsory but only a quarter if that are fully into the chants and war cries. View and kings always produce good Home and away crowds. Scots had a simalar amount of boys there than shore on saturday which isn't amazing. Newington have mediocre home crowds, and pretty much no away crowd

P&D
Nah this is crazy, Scots have the same amount of boys at every Kings game at JS White, and either match or are very close to View and Shore at their home grounds as well.

Absolute joke this list, this is the definitive correct list I reckon:

1. Joeys (obviously)
2. Scots/View/Shore (all very similar, in numbers and volume)
3. Kings (lacking numbers recently, and noise is just not there unless Kings are winning in the last 5 minutes)
4. New (obviously)

I was nearby and it wasn't great. The injured player being down certainly set things off. It did calm down after the teacher spoke to the boys but it came back towards the end. Tbf, its the first time I've actually heard such raucous booing of the kicker. It 10000% does not happen at home games. Boys would be dealt with by the Seargent's

It will be interesting to see the Kings away crowds...

The last few years has certainly been a decline for their away crowd.

Hopefully the boys from Paramatta can fix this up and compete with the other schools in away games.

Personally, i dont see Joeys "obviously" at the top. As it is compulsory for the boys from Joeys to go out to the games, i would expect them to be way louder than they are moving them down the rank to 2nd. I must say though i like there new "footy" chant. My revised list is as follows:

1. Shore (always coming up with new chants, bring strong culture everywhere they go)
2. View/Joeys (similar to shore, they are always bringing the culture. More so view, than Joeys. Joeys only in second because the amount of boys they bring.
3. Scots (same chant every year, time to change it up)
4. King (only good thing is their cheer captain, the rest of the crowd is dead)
5. Newington (obviously)

Completely agree

View at home can put up numbers but with a lack of tikka I found it hard to rank them above Scots.

Shore and Scots very hard to put one over the other.

I don't have a complete team list. But Scots will be missing Cooper Guerin (shoulder), Sam Alker (if suspended), possibly Aston Weir (had ankle problems toward the end of the game). There are questions involving Oliver Sinclair, the no. 10 - who missed this game due to surgery done around his tailbone - on wether or not he comes back into the team, seeing as Oscar Tremlett played phenomenal filling that number 10 role.

I would love to see anyones predicted lineup for next week. Cheers.

TRD out.

Don't have a team list as it's only Monday but with a few back rowers out looks like either Lucas Large or Dan Ibrahim will get the call up. Keep in mind they both got a run on the weekend. Exciting to see who they pick against the Iggies boys this weekend.

Word going around that kings were quite discourteous towards scots two weeks ago chanting derogatory terms towards the scots 1st XV. This was heard by staff at kings yet nothing was done. I find this quite poor behaviour especially being in this prestigious competition.
Poor work kings!
"don't be sorry, be better."
Think you're taking the chants a bit seriously here mate, was all a bit of banter after one of the year 7's stole the king's shield, as an old Kings teacher I can still remember the naughty chants the scots boys used to chant at the boys both on and off the footy field, although it was all in good spirit and we never held any grudges towards them, That was the beauty and still is the beauty of AAGPS footy.

Disappointed when watching Streamer replays to hear the borrowing of chants and warcries. I do appreciate that it is hard to create new chants and it it’s important/necessary to draw from the chants of sports teams and schools outside of the GPS.

However, it is important to have respect and acknowledge the creativity, devotion and effort put into these chants by boys. Boys are taking the dedication and innovation of other schools, and simply inserting their schools name. I do not appreciate this. It takes away from a lot of the point of warcries and school culture, often voiding the original school from being able to do their chant because ‘everyone is doing it’ and it is not their own any more.

A specific example of this is a chant from Shore that I saw created and developed over the course of last season. I was very happy to see this creativity in the art of warcries and did not hear anything similar from any other school before, during or after. Until the TKS replay from Saturday.

Just some thoughts.

Twister.

I was at this game. Look, it was unfortunate to hear the kings boys chanting the way they were, but it did not go as far as any racism or other serious profanity. You could argue that the boys are just having fun, but i'd like to think the competition looks to ridicule this type of stuff.

On another note, does anyone have a predicted Scots team list for next week? An injury to number 7 and a slight problem with number 6 could see a few changes in the team. Also, the no. 10 Sinclair looks to return from surgery next week as well.

Thanks,

Gents,
Unfortunately I can't provide a full team list as its too early in the week. I have however knowledge from Scots sources at some changes to the 1st XV lineup. Number 7 Cooper Guerin is set to be replaced by Michael O'connell due to his dislocated shoulder. Also Lemoto suffered a Labral tear to his right shoulder and is out for at least three weeks, set to be replaced by Dubbo's biggest rig Lucas Large.
Cheers
Phil
