As i said Micheal, Shore do not lack quality players. Creer, sediris, wileman, that fast stocky inside and their no. 7. There all good players, but come gps selections the teams which are winning, get chosen. Saying this shore could be strong next year with the head geared second rower and the no. 10 coming back. In the same breath however, next year will be one of the toughest, most even competitions in memory with the re emergence of kings and joeys, and the return of key players among scots, view and new. The most formidable of all those coming back is Jim Stewart, who the old boys at Bellevue Hill think will finally assure us of a premiership.

Absolutely agree with this statement as I think there is a real vein of talent in the U16 age group not just in GPS but across the board in CAS, CHS etc and Junior Club rugby given what I have seen this year.

What is going to be interesting in GPS 2012 is the extent of the benefit some schools (Joeys and Riverview in particular) will get from playing their best U16s in their 1st's and 2nd's this year.

I doubt it. Newington were meant to be dominant this year with 9 GPS Champions returning and they have been dreadful. All they've got to show for their efforts thus far are a win against Grammar and a very lucky win over an unlucky Shore. Sadly they have been poorly coached and have massively under-delivered. All the boys you mention might be fine young men but only OPL and Tepai are top shelf.

BWF I think you'll find that the majority of their team for next year may more likely come from their 16As. Apparently undefeated in all games this year and I've heard that their winning run continued today with a 31-0 win over Riverview. Can't quite believe that scorline and it probably needs to be verified as the Riverview 16As are a quite a good side.

That score is correct. King's looked strong. I was equally as surprised. I was expecting much more from view.

Buckling played amazingly against Scots 1st XV, dominated Horwitz in contact, wouldn't be suprised to see him make a good GPS selection next year if he improves his conditioning / size.

By dominated do you mean late hits every time. I agree that he did put a lot of good pressure on Horwitz but for him to make a GPS side next year. He will have to start tackling people with the ball.

What is it with cheap shots this season – it has hit plague level in the CAS comp this year. Even at club it’s bad, but worse still the referees aren't seeing them & the ARs (especially school appointed) aren't doing much by way of providing assistance! Late tackles, poorly defined high tackles, “grass cutters” and shoulder charges – you name it – they’re missing it!

Scots boys talking themselves up already for 2012.... Other than Stewart, Horwitz and Kellaway, what "quality" does Scots have coming back. Their problem has always been some serious grunt up front. If they were ever going to win surely it was this year. How did they manage to lose against View with 9 NSW/CS players in the side, with 4 of those making Australian level?

I can't see next years Scots team being as good as this years one, and as you mention Joeys and Kings in particular have some very good players coming through. Could be a few years more yet for the Bellevue Hill brigade.

Scots won't have the strongest side and this year should of been their year but as said in earlier post that it will be even playing fields. But scots do have an undefeated U/16s 2 years ago and a strong U/16s team this year.

Joeys beat TAS 47-14
team was made up of year 10s and 11s with 5 players each from 1s, 2s and 3s. Murphy, Robertson, Sandell, Deegan and Kay all played aswell as Hookey.

Joeys, Scots and Kings have some great U16s - who will mature into great players at open level? My money is on Joeys with Deegan directing traffic in his 3rd year of 1st XV in 2013. Next year will be some very interesting.

Eh, I will admit that some were potentially late, but he certainly did a great job of terrorising the flyhalf and made it extremely difficult for him to operate as he often dropped into the flyhalf / inside centre channel in defense, however, he also committed to many of the 'late' tackles whilst Horwitz was passing the ball. These types of tackles are regarded as late as the player is often taken out after he has passed the ball, but, if the player had not committed and the opposition had thrown a dummy then they would be straight through the defense and I find this always causes a lot of controversy among spectators (all with varying opinions - reminds me of the game against Samoa when a wallaby was penalised for such an incident).

Didn't think I'd cop so much flak for mentioning it, thought he just did a great job in terrorising the Scots backline. As a number six (his preferred position I do believe, if my memories of last years 16A's games are correct) its important to get in the mind of the flyhalf to ensure that his minds always focusing on not getting hit by the flanker instead of actually running the backline.

Will be interesting to see how both he and Shore go next year with bigs sides coming from both Riverview, Joeys and Kings.

As far as I am aware of the rules - It isn't late if you don't get penalised!

For all you one-eyed supporters out there in the stands - don't tell me that you would not have made the same tackle if you could have 'ever' got there!

My takeaways where [1] a team of good players almost got done by a team of spirited guys; and [2] the dummy runner is allowed to interfere with the defense. :-( I watched the warmups and they were chalk and cheese - one team coached by a group of gentlemen that seemed to be more than a bunch of disinterested teachers doing their Saturday penance. BTW the Shore 16A's are coached by a current 2nd grader/ex-1st grader. Jim Stewart was a standout/game breaker - hope he plays somewhere other than Uni next year. Walters good but not dominant - Baraket great in attack. For Shore Merriman and Creer were good.

Good to her walters was good but dominant.....however he didnt play. probably why the Shore 10 was given so much free space and why some holes were left in the Scots defence close to their line.

Old Offside No7, Buckling did his job very well. Won some collisions and his tackling was outstanding. Definitely a stand out for Shore, with the 10 Horwitz under pressure and restricted all game. Looking forward to next year as he is only in year 11. Any thoughts on Horwitz and Stewarts performance as a matter of fact? No 9 Merriman had an outstanding first half with the 60m clearance kick, catching TSC off guard. Predictions for Joeys V View?

I think it will be a very close first half but then much like the trial View could run away with it in the second half, but you never know with View v Joeys games as both sides always lift for the occasion.

He is a not a forwards coach and does little drill at all with the tight five. While they may have good hands, they fail in tight five basics.

Yes there tight five are poor this year, all five making GPS 2nds. Terrible. And Sarge, since you left the school (teaching yr 6) and moved to Joeys a lot has changed. "7's Specialist" isn't head coach any more. I agree the old scots teams may have neglected there tight 5. But this year, i think a lot will agree, they have done an excellent job.
