NSW CAS Rugby 2021

Mr Serious

Peter Burge (5)
Ahhhhh. Good to be back. What a cracking rugby season we have ahead of us this year. Waverley and Barker obviously being the favourites again this year, but I do hear Knox and Cranners will have a red hot crack this year. Personally don't know too much about Barker, Aloys or Cranners but do know that Waverley will be returning with a strong team that were undefeated in their 16As season in 2019. Assuming Barker will have plenty more new boys this year ready to shed their talent on the field.

Mr S :)

Does anyone know who is coaching Knox 1sts? Tai Glassie has moved on to be a specialist coach in the senior school, head of rugby at the Prep and also head of year 7 rugby. More of a development role so to speak

Yep, Cam Blades and Phil Scarr are the 2 main coaches of the 1sts's at Knox.

Thanks Axel, I was curious whether they were going to go after a big fish in the lead up to the centenary in 2024 as schools like to do. I wonder whether that is a change just for this year or longer term

Not sure BBR..........maybe just some fresh ideas.

Agree, nothing wrong with fresh ideas and different voices. Seemed to be decent number of year 7s who turned up for rugby induction this year so hopefully they have managed to stop the player drain from the last couple of years

I think they have BBR...the rugby numbers have grown substantially from the poor numbers in the prep school. Last year we had more rugby players than soccer players which is a big turnaround. Long may it continue.

Yeah the Prep school has now gone to 7s only in year 3 and 4. 1xAs team in year 5 plus a 7s and then in year 6 they have decided to field a 1st XV and 2 x 7 sides even though there is enough players to field a first and second xv.... that strategy is fine if you are a back but not ideal if you are a tight forward trying to learn your craft
