What a disappointing attitude you have Slugga

Look at the form of the players over the last 4 weeks

It would seem that those selecting have been watching not just the Club Championships but the school stuff as well

You've got to agree that the Eastwood boys had a shocking Club Championship

I see that 2 more of your Western Zone players have made the Schools side

I think you have been very hasty with your complaints

All I have done is stated some facts. I’m sorry you don’t like hearing it.

The results reflect the form of the players from the past 4 weeks and any way you twist it North’s have hardly covered themselves in glory.

Yes Eastwood were disappointing and their selections reflect that but they didn’t come 7th.

I think you’ve been very hasty in defending them.

Mate get with the program . You've got most of it right. You have to make sure one of your parents is part of SJRU and happy to manipulate behind the scene.
Its no good having someone doing it for rugby they have to be able to push for what they want.

I stand corrected.

Remember these figures are skewed and need to be include Sydney U16, Sydney Presidents XV and NSW Country Juniors teams to get a more representative view of the state of the nation Under 16 wise. Many of these kids (but not all) appeared at NSW JRU State Champs and Sydney JRU Regional tournament.

Of the names above, Lough and Goddard (both ISA) are currently involved in the U18 Schoolboy champs (NSW 1st XV).

Smith (AAGPS) was #8 for AAGPS II's in the NSW Schools Open Rugby Trials but received a cut to the melon against CHS II and had to retire.

I do not have any information about how many of those named above play "Opens" for their school.

There were some other lads playing in the NSW Schools Open Rugby Trials that are not names in the NSW Schools U16 team, although I note that at least one of them has made the SJRU Presidents XV.

Smith actually did a syndemosis injury: said to be back for first round of term 3 but wants to play in the battle of Bellevue hill

Sidelineview, I'm sure HJ can answer this better but my understanding is that to play Opens as an U16 you have to be in Yr 11 (not 10).
Lough is in Yr 11. Two of the Auggies boys named are in Yr 10. The fourth I not sure.

If you find out which boys on the schools list are Yr 11 as adverse to Yr 10 you might have your answer.

FYI Reilly Angus-Cork was named in the SJRU U15 team yesterday.

Thanks, just curious. A few didn't play on the U16s weekend

To the best of my knowledge all that is needed to play Open Age School rugby, in Association Rep Teams, NSW Schools or 1st XV/2nd XV/3rd XV is to have completed the required ARU two year window clearances.

Many U16 lads that are playing State Opens (or Combined States) decline to play U16 rep tournament, possibly for fatigue management reasons. Understandable as Open Age rugby can be rather physically demanding for a 15 year old, and many of them are playing a lot of footy, given the madness of the multiple selection trials and tournaments on the two pathways at U16 level.

Shane I haven't heard of the year 11 rule before so doubt it. I think the fact that some boys play with their year group rather than their age group might give the impression.

Yes I think that's right 10to12. It also depends on the school, some are happy for boys to play in their year group while others are not until opens and only if they can make the step up to 1st/2nd xv

7 Delahoya
8 Basson
9 Goddard
10 Dainton

This is not an attempt at starting line up, just putting names to positions. Looks like a very strong group of boys

It depends on the school. I know some Year 10 boys play 1sts. I was wondering more about players who trialed in the Opens as U16s, which explains players named in the squad who didn't participate on the 16s weekend at Curagul. I get it now.
