Reds returning to QPR won't help the Bulldogs!!!!

Would be happy for Ready and Gunn to take their "active rest" and sit out this weekend for the Tigers.

It will be an important match for both sides and I'd expect both sides to be up for it - really looking forward to getting a Tiger Burger and settling in for the action.

Interesting to see after this weekends games if the coaching structure at the bottom of the table clash remains the same ... think the head coaches might be safe but not sure about the bystanders

BYE isn't coming at a great time for GPS. A tough and well played game against UQ followed by a gritty win against Sunnybank would have the players feeling good about their chances to knock off another team.

Hopefully they keep themselves game ready and give Souths a good run when they meet at Yoku the following week.

Not sure when but told the lads he will not be playing again this year for Brothers.

I hear you may well see him. The Reds have reminded him of his contractual obligations to them and despite his efforts to quarantine himself for his Japanese contract, the Reds will ensure he does what he's meant to.

Brothers may still see him in the butcher stripes.

Was wondering what the Reds thought of this - I would have thought he has to stick around until the end of the NRC but the Reds might be happy for him to move on.

I would expect players to be allowed to leave after their Super Rugby commitments have been fulfilled, would depend on the contract specifics though.

If a player is known to be leaving for another team in 2017 then it seems a bit redundant to be keeping him on the roster for the affiliated NRC side, when they could be blooding other blokes in what is essentially a feeder competition.

He could play for a Sydney Team, there maybe more appreciation from down there. They have never worried about bringing down a QLDer.

It depends what the end state goal is... If including Greene In the NRC squad helps the development of player around him then there is merit to keeping him till the end of the season.

QLD Country struggled to win a game last season, they could use any help they can get.

So results today should see:
  1. UQ - 44 pts
  2. Souths 38 pts
  3. Brothers 38 pts
  4. Sunnybank 29 pts
  5. Bond 27 pts
  6. GPS 24 pts
GPS now have the bye out of the way so are well placed given Sunnybank's third loss in a row.
Sunnybank will go down again next week against Brothers and Bond will lose next week against UQ. If we can get up over Souths next week we should move to 4th place.
No GPS game today so went to Brothers v UQ. Uni are going to be very hard to knock off this season - they were incredible but Brothers tested them all game.
UQ scrum is a major, major weapon for them. They have destroyed Souths and Brothers scrums over last two weeks, and I mean destroyed, not just dominated.

University have completed a clean sweep of arch-rivals Brothers in Premier Grade, outscoring the Brethren 35-47 at Crosby Park in Round 11’s Game of the Round.

Two tries to lock Patrick Morrey carried the converted-flanker to second place on Premier Rugby’s try-scoring leaderboard, while Josh Birch’s second half effort saw the centre rise up to joint-third, with six.

The star of the day was undoubtedly the University scrum, dominating from start to finish and culminating in a pushover try, scored by Jack Cornelsen.

Flyhalf Sam Dalgleish converted 6/7 tries in the absence of regular goal kicker, Tom Pincus

Though territory and possession statistics were almost equal, University’s ruthless conversion of opportunities into points lifted the side to their ninth straight victory to sit alone atop the Premier Rugby table.

Despite playing their third First v Second match in three weeks, University’s habit of starting fast proved hard to shake.

Dalgleish broke the line inside five minutes, linking with winger Jock Campbell to carry University to the Brothers tryline, but leaving the scoring honours to Pat Morrey.

The Red Heavies were back knocking on the door in the eighth minute, patiently building pressure before swinging wide to flanker Conor Mitchell on the right wing.

University’s set piece laid the first seeds of a big night, registering an impressive tighthead scrum win and stealing a lineout within moments of each other.

Brothers kept in touch with a try to fullback Elih Bailie in the 25th minute, reducing the lead to 7-12.

Brothers equalised in the 31st minute, capitalising on excellent field position after piling pressure on the Red Heavy back three with long kicks.

Pat Morrey showed his class in the face of Brother’s growing momentum, snuffing out another threatening raid with a skilful turnover.

Morrey bore the fruits of his labour just moments later, picking and driving over the line to finish the movement five minutes before half-time.

University had points left in them as openside Jack de Guingand turned over Brothers’ ball on halfway.

The ‘Heavies methodically worked upfield, but a loose ball from the ruck was all the opportunity Queensland Reds scrumhalf Scott Gale needed to steal his fourth try in three weeks.

Ahead 12-26 at the break, University’s scrum opened the second half with another destructive effort, winning a penalty.

Tighthead prop Reuben Leilua followed up the effort with a big carry, held up, before driving a push-over try for Jack Cornelsen to touch down.

On the 55th minute mark, Brother’s former Roosters U20s backrower Richie Skelton scored his first of two tries from short range.

Brothers snuck in another try to cut the lead to just five points, moments later.

With their grip on top spot dangling before their eyes, University’s back three swung into action.

Gale secured a turnover deep inside his defensive 22m before firing a wide pass to fullback Tom Banks.

Banks showed off his speed, brushing by two defenders before drawing and passing for wing-mate Jock Campbell, neatly stepping the last line of defence to score under the posts.

Centre Josh Birch was next to score for University, finishing an opportunity created by partner-in-crime Nathan Russell with a filthy ankle-breaker sidestep to carry the lead to an unassailable 35-47 lead with five to play.

Jack Cornelsen almost added an extra nail to Brothers’ sealed-shut coffin with a 50m runaway, only to be bundled into touch by an incredible chase-down.

University will look to fortify their position atop the Queensland Premier Rugby leaderboard in next week’s Varsity match at home, against Bond University.

Well it just wasn't to be at Easts yesterday but the next two weeks will resolve the wooden spoon as next week it's Wests v Norths and then the week after is Norths v Easts. Wests v Norths is last chance saloon for the Bulldogs - they need a BP win.

But well done to the Tigers who reclaimed the Paul Mooney trophy.

Gee the Brumbies are doing well with a number of former QPR stars in Ah Wong, Toua and Butler.

Did Arnold play for Bond/Breakers or just his brother?

A great crowd at Brothers last night. I don't think Uni were too popular.
The Uni back-row were very good. Jack De Guingand in particular. They'll be in the GF. Just a matter of who plays them.
Brothers are still a good side. Should be very competitive when we next meet, hopefully in the semi's.

Rory played first for Breakers and left in 2013 to link up with the Brumbies. Richie who played in last year's Premiership winning Reserve grade side is with the Western Force.
