So I think, if GPS beat Souths this weekend, they're locked into the top 4

And if Brothers beat Bond, it will mean Easts have to beat Bond by around 50+ points the following week to leapfrog Brother's into 4th.

Maths could be wrong, but I think that's the scenarios.

My Gallopers will be hoping Sunnybank cause an upset this weekend which gives them a chance to sneak into the top 2 in the final week.
Think if Brothers beat Bond it puts Bond's season to bed and as you say nearly does the same to Easts.

Easts have the worst PD out of the three . Bond currently +116, Brothers +94 and Easts +55.

Easts basically want and Bond win over Brothers , then beat Bond in the final round and hope for Sunnybank to spoil Brothers' season.

That's before you factor in what might happen with UQ and GPS.

It's tight with Wests the only certainty to play finals ATM.

Games to Play ( plus my predictions)

Wests - Norths and Souths - 2 wins - +8 (10) points = 65
UQ - Sunnybank and GPS - 2 wins - +8 Points = 60
GPS - Souths and UQ - 1 win - 5 points = 53
Brothers - Bond and Sunnybank - 1 win - + 4 pints = 51 points ( make the 4 by for and against)
Easts - BYE and Bond - 1 win - + 4 points = 51 points
Bond - Brothers and Easts - 1 win +4 points = 48 points

Sunnybank - UQ and Brothers
Souths - GPS and Wests
Norths - Wests and BYE

An upset or two, some games really too close to call and bonus points will mean that we wot know until the final whistle of round 18 to see who will be in positions 2,3,4 and the finals.

Another coach moving on - Dammers stepping down at Souths. It'll be interesting to see if they advertise like Sunnybank and Norths have or go internal.
I thought Dammers was in for the long haul at Chipsy Wood. Will he be heading elsewhere? What have Souths got internally? Would one of the Kefs step up or is BBC to good to walk away from?

Nice - I like Garrick Morgan as the next souths coach.

ive been trying to think of a former souths player with professional experience who could step in similar to Ben Mowen at tigers to rally the troops.

maybe the magpies could make a play at Mac Grealy to come join big Garrick at the Nest.

if it is Garrick I am sure he will attract a few more as well.

All the club with the Downland old boy will be making sure they’re locked into future. There are some very good ones of which Grealy is just one. The magpie Colt has not made the semi final since they won it in 2019? But there is plenty of young talent to work with.

Definitely concerning for South’s.

Dammers was very passionate about making South’s a one club stop again, bringing back their old values. Seems no one really bought into his way of doing things though.

The constant conversations I hear about Dammers, across all of his post-high school coaching gigs, is that his communication and manner with ‘men’ instead of ‘boys’ is where he really falls down. Telling them what to do or how to play wasn’t working, he needed to engage with them.

Its a pity because he has all the rugby nous and skills to be a great coach

Wrong! They made the semi-finals in 2020 but unfortunately saved their worst game of the season for the knock-out Minor Semi-Final.

Once again on this forum, armchair commentators with no connection to Souths, make totally ignorant statements about coaches and players. Look at the team lists for Premier Grade and Reggies over the last few weeks and tell me who are the Reggies who refuse to play in Prems. There is constant movement between the grades, due to injury and form. All other interpretations are BS.

Without getting into a slanging match one might ask about Sean Farrell. For a guy who was on a Reds contract you could ask why is he not in the starting team each week?

Mate I have more of connection with Souths than you might reckon, including several of the current players in the Premier side and coaching staff at the club. If none of the chat is legitimate, why is Dammers leaving?

If you're very connected with the club - tell me, is it untrue that a number of 2nd grade players who were picked in 1sts approached Dammers in 2021 and 2022 and requested to continue playing 2nd grade?

Every time someone mentions ill of Souths as a club, blokes come out of the woodwork blowing up.

The fact is the 1st grade side has been shithouse for a number of years, the same mumblings each year. If you want to keep your head in the sand, that is fine.

I have also come out on these forums and defended Dammers as a person many times, I had a great time working with him at GPS. But the fact is that he rubs players the wrong way. I also came out in support of him after his interview on Clubland earlier this season where he wanted to get Souths back on track after the Picone crap.
