Yet funnily enough GPS constantly complain about Norths being weak........perhaps they should lay off recruiting Norths players every year

LOL - that’s a good one.

It’s not like the blokes who’ve joined GPS recently had one breakout season and then the mighty Gallopers swooped in. They’ve had years at Shaw Rd with zero success, do you blame them for wanting to leave?

And in Rayment’s case he played Colts at GPS and a season of grades before coming to Norths and then heading back to GPS. So technically Norths poached him, but he realised he’d made a mistake.

How many of the Wests players were involved in their GF last year?

This Uni team is really fresh with this being a number of them on debut. Uni Colts could be unreal with some of these guys just out of school.

probably about 75% of the team today played in the GF or with the premier grade team sometime during the 2022 season.

That’s good. Should help Wests lead into the season. Uni had 2 players from the SS GF.

The ruck and set piece went to shit for Wests around 50 mins and they barely touched the ball for 30 mins. Not much you can do with no ball in the arvo in March.

Seru Uru had his best game of the year (Reds included) for Wests in that GF last year, really turned the screws on the Uni defensive line.

Wests put themselves under all sorts of pressure early exiting. They were terrible. Then the ill discipline kicked it. In all honesty Ben Navo was lucky not to be red carded. Wests looked dangerous when they had the ball on attack but too rarely had that opportunity.

Sydney Uni must have an incredible production line if they can put that kind of performance on against a set squad.

Post match mentioned only 3 players from last year’s GF for Uni. Their captain mentioned how well the boys from the lower grades stood up. Pretty impressive.

Especially in the 2nd half when Fowler and Cailol were playing school boy footy last year.

They don’t mess around with going after talent. The Super Rugby squads show it

Yeah and prems after right? Saw them up on the top fence watching the game and taking notes.
Souths produced some good early trial form coming away with a 33-28 win over Bond Uni. The Magpies are, once again, a very young team but they have some excellent young talent. There are quite a number of players still out with niggling injuries who will have to show great form when they come back, if they are going to dislodge some of the players currently performing well in the trials. An excellent position to be in for Garrick and coaching staff.

I forgot to mention Phransis Sula-Siaosi from the Reds as well as the four Junior Wallabies, Harry McLaughlin-Phillips, John Bryant, Willem Johnstone and Taj Annan to come back to Clubland at some time.
