I wonder what percentage of games Lynagh has been assessed for concussion?

It seems like a 50% chance he will be assessed during a game and about 33% that he will come off for concussion or be missing a game due to concussion the previous week.

I really worry that he wont have a long career unless something changes. Would headgear help?

Nah doesn’t help.

Hopefully it settles for him but he seems to get more than others and unfortunately it tends to happen easier over time.

It’s definitely a concern. The effects of regular head trauma from pro sport are becoming more and more evident.

Not sure he has a technique problem though. From my recollection several of the instances have come from him being hit with high shots. So technique definitely an issue - but not his technique. Last nights was more bad luck than anything.

Maybe Quade Cooper and his defensive style was ahead of its time for a playmaker.

It’s an interesting conundrum, though. Opposing teams regularly target The flyhalf for good reason, and it’s not too intentionally HIA him but to tire him out defensively less than a threat in attack.

I’d be interested to see what the data presents in terms of HIA and positions, whether there’s any trends of one position receiving more HIA than others

Yeah one from dolly and one from the highlanders player.
Good news he hasn’t been flat out concussed I don’t think. And they’ve been quick to assess on field before he can get another head knock. Probably needs to hide more at fullback. He’s good under the highball and has a solid boot.
It’s a hard one because we still don’t know enough about concussion. He may genuinely not have an issue around recovery.
