Come on down Dick Graham, the mini bus is driving up to the gates for a contract extension, 5 years will do..

Red's fan I feel for you, but you could always come and support the Brumbies :)

Here's some relevant txt from today's Wayne Smith piece in The Australian:

One comment: how laughable to 'decide to advertise' now for such critical QRU coaching positions, yet state that the final decision will be made in approx. two weeks from now. Thus, there is clearly no substance or genuine intent in such a process - it must be being set up this way for other convenient purposes.

It's heart-warming that RG is 'fully across the the review's findings' and 'intends to be part of the process for the role of HC'.
When he says he is going to be part of the process is that in deciding whether he will be reappointed? I know the comment (or at least I'm 90% sure) is just saying he intends to apply, but with the way this farce has played out one cannot be sure.

Pity Quade's 'fiancé' lives in Sydney, albeit a lot closer than Dublin (or Toulon)!
It's alright Lance, since being denied a place on the committee I'm sure we can make room for QC (Quade Cooper) at NSW especially with Foley doing the constant rugby thing which will in all likelihood see him broken. :)

Just saying he intends to apply I'd say.

(It beggars belief that the QRU has not simply arranged for his dignified, and complete, departure by now. On what possible objective and fact-driven basis can RG still be around? The answer must be: he's around on a basis that is subjective and not fact-driven and that tracts of the QRU board have defensive egos the size of the Story Bridge and cannot concede their original error.)

RG has extensive contacts with the QRU board and the likes of Tim Horan etc and no doubt he's using them in his pitch for a 2016 contract.

We must remember that after 2014's awful season RG convinced the QRU board that his core problem was 'a squad that had not been renovated enough since 2011' even though Link gave him control of squad planning from late 2012.

Never have an endless stream of highly dubious excuses worked so well in elongating a coaching career that has otherwise failed by every imaginable KPI and performance criterion.

In my view, Turinui would probably be a good appointment as a back's (Attack and Defensive) coach, sub the Head Coach, although from memory he wasn't much of a tackler himself.

But he's a sharp dude whose been around and has great communication skills.

Whether the committee or sub-committee deems he has enough experience or not is another matter.

I agree he would be a great backs coach,as a player he demonstrated a good understanding of the game.
It's somewhat bizarre that insufficient experience would be a barrier to employing him.
What are they scared of?
That he will deliver a win rate <30%?
Cos that's that current pass rate up there isn't it?

Interesting on Turunui - he's coaching Lille Metropole in France, which are a lower division side but targeted as being a Top 14 side as Lille is something like the 4th biggest city in France. Not sure how much experience he has coaching full time but seems to be a good thinker on the game. Interesting recent audio interview with Turunui at sporple here: https://newsroom.sporple.com/morgan-turinui-french-rugby-coach/

Was coaching.

I saw an article from July 3 - google translated I'll admit - that said he wouldn't be coaching due to financial issues.

I know Lille have been prevented from going up to Top 14 due to the club's financial position and have appealed so I'm not sure if those issues are related to the club overall or him not being paid.

Has that changed BJ? Still listed as a coach for 2015/16 on their website (according to my schoolboy French, under 'Le Staff').

I know Lille have been prevented from going up to Top 14 due to the club's financial position and have appealed so I'm not sure if those issues are related to the club overall or him not being paid.

Just to clear up the picture, after retiring from playing in France, Morgs was an assistant coach at Lille, and they managed to win promotion to the D2 this year, not Top14.

Due to financial issues, the club may or may not actually be permitted to take that promotion; the promotion is currently under appeal.

I can tell you that he is no longer at Lille due to the afore-mentioned financial issues. (And just to be clear, the financial issues are due to the owners, not the staff.)

Anything further will be revealed in the fullness of time, except to say he is an exceptional bloke and a first-rate student of the game.
