there wasn't an option. Stadium was booked. I prefer Townsville than Gold Coast.
No argument there Reg, and I think if you have to take it away, take it to where people can't really get to Suncorp etc, make it available to a wider range.

This is my main reason for not going to game live, the music on TV is bad enough, I wont go and have to put up with it in person.
Yep liquor, I have seen a few people say the same.
I dislike it, I go to quite a few music shows and never once have wanted a game of rugby to break out when there a gap, and would prefer it didn't happen the other way around. Especially as they try and play it as long as they can it seems.
I be honest mexican waves give me the shits too, just watch the f***en rugby!

Sign of aging boys - when you start complaining about the volume of the music.
:p I worried about that too TSR, then realise I do like music loud, when I at concerts ;) Guess it maybe we just like talking too much? As that what the music prevents, discussing the game during it.

Haha agreed. Music here to stay, must say never had any issues talking when it’s on. Sport will go the American model where it’s just as much about the experience than the actual content on the field.

Since Covid cheap flights are a thing of the past......

Just had a quick look on webjet (yes I know it's cheaper to book direct but is handy for comparison purposes) and if you book the late Feb game today and fly at a reasonable time (not 6am) it's just over $400 return in flights.

Add in a hotel at likely $200 plus (as decent cheap rooms are also hard to find these days) food & booze and it wouldn't be hard to see it being a $800+ weekend away to see the Rugby

As much as I love seeing the Reds, that's a decent chunk out of the holiday fund & time spent with the kids....

I think I'll be treating the Townsville games same as an away round and just have the boys over for some beers & the game on the projector by the pool
If I am spending that much, I would rather find the money to

It is the poor quality of music selection that annoys me the most, then the sound level, I don't know how they can attempt to have an entertaining experience for all fans when music choice is such a personal opinion.

My membership group all love it and reckon they've been nailing the stadium DJ work the last few years. There's nothing at all controversial about the selections and they've been leaning into songs with a good karaoke vibe. Removing the music would go a long way to killing what little vibe is left.

Relying a little on last year's form I think Zongorr and Hoopert were really playing well and deserve to start.

Sef Fa'agase grabs a bench spot which really only leaves us with Zander as the other option.

Hooker I think we have three really good options. Again relying in last year, I think Nasser was excellent and if he can get back to fitness, he'd be my starter with probably Faessler just ahead of Asiata on the bench.

Lock is tough. Jones is an unknown quantity so who knows how he'll perform. Personally, with Tupou out I think we need Uru to start and I can't fit him in my backrow so he's at lock for now. That means its either Blythe (Angus) or Smith. Really tough and I'd probably just lean towards Blyth. Smith is on the bench in that scenario for me.

Backrow I think is pretty straight forward? Wilson at 8 and McReight at 7, and I'd still with Wright at 6. I think, if back in form, he brings so much to this team. I'd be backing Tauakipulu as then bench option for a point of difference, but it could be Jones or Vest I guess. Anderson covers all three spots too I guess.

Tate starts with Kalani proving to be the solid replacement option.

JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor) is the 10 if fit.

Centres is a real puzzle too. Is Paisami best at 12 or 13? Is JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor) going to kick? If not does that mean Henry's case is strengthened? Will Petaia stick out wide? I really want Flook at 13 so am going with him and Hunter at 12, with Henry on the bench.

Back three is Jock at fullback with Petaia and Vunivalu on the wings. Leaving Daugunu on the bench.

Clearly we will never have our best 23 to choose from (even disregarding Thor) but this is who I'd like to see.

15 Jock Campbell
14 Jordan Petaia
13 Josh Flook
12 Hunter Paisami
11 Suliasi Vunivalu
10 James O'Connor
9 Tate McDermott
8 Harry Wilson
7 Fraser McReight
6 Liam Wright
5 Angus Blyth
4 Seru Uru
3 Zane Nonggorr
2 Josh Nasser
1 Harry Hoopert

16 Matt Faessler
17 Dane Zander
18 Sef Fa'agase
19 Ryan Smith
20 Keynan Tauakipulu
21 Kalani Thomas
22 Isaac Henry
23 Filipo Daugunu

What if JOC (James O'Connor) isn’t fit? Who is next in line?

~2013 through ~2018 was absolutely dire

I think rock bottom was the fake-fan-noise Volvo rev counter though...

2012 or maybe 2013 run ons to "the grid" by daft punk was peak vibes tbh

But then the 30k odd crowds probably also had something to do with that.
It certainly was better than the instrumental of Remember The Name by Fort Minor on loop for an eternity

Mate, I have no problem admitting I an old bugger and perhaps that why I not into music at games. :( I understand that we live in a world where people have lived with every part of things filled with noise etc, and realistically have no problems with them for it.I also understand not everyone like me the game is only reason I there, hell I seldom drink at a game because I don't want to need to go for relief while play is on :D We generally have a beer afterwards.
I just go and watch game, usually with mate or two, and we get into it, usually talk about what has happened when there a break, and that's all I need. Hell as I said I dislike mexican waves and even not keen on someone on a mike giving faux cheering stuff. I do know that's just me and a few rugby die hards I know, and they have to make it entertaining for people who tend to be not as one eyed as me.;) Hell I don't boo ever at rugby etc, but kind of think if that's how some enjoy it and they bought a ticket so they entitled to I suppose.
Perhaps I just a sad old rugby fella huh?
