Turn over ball, on the front foot, and then the kick - where he stepped away from the back of the ruck to where there was no protection: woeful execution.
He just needs to put away the box kick on counters, it rarely works well for him now. More of a low percentage play than a percentage play.
I tell you who I thought was great in both attitude and outcomes, and great to seeing him being that: Beau!
Looked back to his 2011 best.
..and, countering my Beau-love, I just do not get Harris
at 12.
Back up place kicker may be, and he does the occasional good thing, but his kicking from hand is always inconsistent in timing and placement, at best, just like his passing that can be woefully weak and misdirected, he rarely breaks tackles or evades slyly consistently setting up others, he's a journeyman player that I'm aghast we can't better by internal promotion or importing wisely. Such a crucial position.
On internal promotion, who is the back up young 10 in development at the Reds?
Frisby could go alright but he doesn't get anywhere near enough game time to develop. If we ever need to rely on him we're in trouble!
The Good: Rob Simmons, Rod Davies, Chris Feaiua-Sautia, James Hanson
The Hit and Miss: Quade Cooper, Aiden Toua
The Bad: Will Genia (wallaby 9 is anyone's for the taking ATM)
Needs Improvement: Dom Shipperely, Jake Shatz
Leave Them Off the Field: Saia Fainga'a, Nick Frisby
Should Start Next Week: James Slipper at Tighthead.
The Stupid: 6:40pm start on a Friday, bloody outrageous.
Hard To Read: This thread! For fucksake, such a negative lot sometimes!
Defence was praised just a few weeks ago vs the Brumbies. We have had 1 attacking game, 1 not show up game and 1 defensive game. The second was the loss we had to have. The first and third will be combined from here on and the Sharks will be rolled this week. The title is ours for the losing.
Seriously, it's not all bad. It has only been 3 weeks, the Crusaders don't have a win yet and I don't see anyone writing them off. As for the dynasty talk, rubbish. This is the toughest provincial comp and to make the finals 3 years running is a big achievement. I can only think of 2 other sides that have done the same. Things are a long way from going back to black days from 2005-2009.
What must be said is that the crowd around me generally loved the spectacle of all the tries and end-to-end play. Affirmed some elements of why there was 28,000 people there, which is and remains a huge positive for the QRU.
But that number is rooted in 2010-11's legacy; if we commence a road to mediocrity and continuous undelivered promises, we'll surely see crowd declines, and serious ones.
For some who agrees with it there was a lot of disagreements thereI do agree with most of these observations, but,
apart from the lineout, Simmons still has many more ineffectual than effective moments and gives away too many penalties; almost Mowen-like;
Rocket Rod is just an average Super player with a lot of pace;
Toua goes missing in defence, almost as much as Moggy;
Shipperly, like Davies, is just an average Super player. Reds need improved performances on the wing - missing Turner in this game;
Saia is as good as Hanson, just plays a different style of game;
Frisby is not up to standard at Super level;
not mentioned, but Robinson is also mostly ineffectual. Runs with vigour but very imprecise in his involvements;
Slipper desperately needed in the front row.
