Rugby Championship 2025: Wallabies v Argentina

Think he’s probably friendlier but yes. Eales had to pull together high achievers into a goal. Not saying Wilson can’t do that but this is a side in its development era and needs a bit of follow me or fuck off.

This also relies on Coaches to have this and back it.
I'm stuffed why you think he is a good captain. The team in the 1st half needed him to pull them together and get their 'arses into the game'. We have to wait for Joe to do it at halftime. The biggest impact we have is the bench, which appeared almost like a new team. Bell should start as Robinson is not strong enough and the 2 penalties for wheeling were him not able to keep up with Tupoa, offering his opposite an exit clause.
I think the team in the second half plays with more energy and some structure. We can't keep hoping that our luck holds and we had plenty of it today.

Another very strong second half effort which got the win. Seems we're never out of the game these days.. Hopefully another win next week to consolidate the world ranking.

I sincerely hope Joe reinstates JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor) to the starting side. We look a whole lot better with him directing play. And either Donaldson or Edmed off the bench.

Fullback is another dicey spot for us. AK (Andrew Kellaway) (Andrew Kellaway) is still not cutting it with the many errors he made at the back. Just think Jorgo would be better and bring Potter or Daugunu in on the wing.

JAS had a better game but I'm surprised how easy it appears to be to throw him off balance. Maybe to do with a high centre of gravity?
Must have watched a different game as Kellaway did a lot right but did make a couple of mistakes. Which tbh is pretty much what wright does every game. I thought lynagh was starting to get them going prior to going off. Nearly pulled off that 50/22. But yeah JOC (James O'Connor) came on and we went up a gear which was what we needed.
And not really getting the same view of JAS. Looks pretty well balanced to me. He continues to build and finds the ball more and more which defences will hate.

So - again - we have a great outcome where we win it at the death well into injury time and the first reaction of some on here is to bag individual players???

On the flip side - what an incredible turnaround in the perception of Harry Wilson.

For my part - Joe deserves credit for his selections. It is sliding doors whether a few things would have worked out differently with some individual selections and we are still very much a work in progress but, overall, this is the best a Wallabies team has looked for a long time and the fact guys can come in on the back of injuries and fit in seamlessly is a credit to Joe and the coaching staff.
My wife and two daughters absolutely love Harry Wilson. He’s the people’s captain!

Nah Bell off the bench is the way to go for now. He’s there for his ball carriers late (see winning try). I would piss Robertson off though. Both Ross and slipper hold up the scrum far better imo. They would paint a better scrum picture from the get go.

We’re an odd team as we seem to get better and better as the game goes. I don’t reckon we’re winning by luck as such because it’s an 80min game, more just winning the key moments. Would be better for the ticker not to give up these leads though.

I’d like to see AAA and Slipper back for next week in Sydney. Also thinks it’s time big Lukhan gets some game time. First half we were exposed in carries with Bobby V having one of his quietest games in years. We need to continue to build depth and we still have 8 tests to play in next 12 weeks.

Don’t mean to be rude but I really don’t care if you don’t get why I think something. Online forums are for people to throw out opinions.

I’ve been pretty critical of his play and I’m still not sold on that and people are A-OK to blast me for that but I can see he’s a hell of a Captain and also a good guy for the Wallabies in the public’s eye.

I like we have conjecture over players. Means we may be developing a bit of depth. Especially in the backrow.

Best thing about this win is that we won playing shit against a very good team. Poor discipline, handling errors, still won. Very rare for us.
Yes. Showed great ticker. Our worst performance for a while but still managed a win. There is a lot to like about that.

I thought lynagh had a decent game. His kicking is much better than JOC (James O'Connor). That kick to touch from JOC (James O'Connor) when he came on was hard to watch. He gained about 15m.
Argentina are very good. Don't forget that. That was a ballsy win from the coach down

I think in Sydney we should roll out:

1 - Bell
2 - Pollard
3 - Tupou (AA if fit)
4 - Frost
5 - Hooper
6 - Valetini
7 - McReight
8 - Wilson
9 - White
10 - O'Connor
11 - Daungunu
12 - Ikitau
13 - JAS
14 - Jorgensen
15 - Kellaway

16 - BPA
17 - Slipper
18 - Tupou/Nonnggor
19 - Williams
20 - Tizzano/Samu
21 - McDermott
22 - Donaldson/Edmed
23 - Potter

Yeah I thought the same. Rugby league style kick for touch. Mind you Lynagh missed touch on one.

Upon watching the replay, it's really clear that Tupou was struggling with the heat. he's generally not the most accurate player as it is, and a few of the general play penalties he copped looked like fatigue. I'm not surprised he didn't come back out after half time. As a positive, he did well at scrum time, Vivas wasn't holding the weight and should have been penalised more. Tupou absolutely out scrummed him.

JAS would often drop back to cover the box kick too, which would cause a re-shuffle in the defensive line. It's a clear tactic too.

I think the next match will probably be more polished from both sides.

So more AB than Eales.

That actually seems pretty accurate.

Even giving Tupou a bit of a tune up like AB giving McDermott a spray (without telling him he’d be on the next plane home).
He also gave a bit of a serve to Skelton in a Lions test when he was slow to get up and defend.

Wilson can do it, this is why he will win the Wilson medal (previously known as the John Eales medal).

Just got home. Havent yet read others comments on the thread and iv had more than a few drinks (disclaimer) but a few thoughts from the game...
1. Not the most attractive game to watch due to what i thought was pretty pedantic reffing. That said, the end of the game was brilliant. Had a league mate who came to the pub to watch the game and the end of the game left a lasting memory and ultimately keeps the bandwagon going
2. I thought lynagh looked off the pace in the first half...better in the 2nd but i would have hooked him at half time
3. When the wallabies turned down the draw and kicked for touch i felt oddly confident we'd win it, based entirely on what this team has showed us over the last two months. A real winning culture building in this team
4. As good as we've been playing we still cant seem to put out an 80 performance. When we're in our groove we look very hard to contain, but there's still the ubiquitous 20 minutes of silly decisions and bad execution.. to be any chance of winning the bledisloe that needs to change.
