Rugby Championship 2025: Wallabies v Argentina

Uh huh

Syd Malcolm (24)
Must have watched a different game as Kellaway did a lot right but did make a couple of mistakes. Which tbh is pretty much what wright does every game. I thought lynagh was starting to get them going prior to going off. Nearly pulled off that 50/22. But yeah JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor) came on and we went up a gear which was what we needed.
And not really getting the same view of JAS. Looks pretty well balanced to me. He continues to build and finds the ball more and more which defences will hate.

Yeah I honestly thought it was one of Kellaway's better games in gold. I mean, anyone expecting him to do the job that Wright does is just setting themselves up for disappointment. He did a lot right.

Just got home. Havent yet read others comments on the thread and iv had more than a few drinks (disclaimer) but a few thoughts from the game...
1. Not the most attractive game to watch due to what i thought was pretty pedantic reffing. That said, the end of the game was brilliant. Had a league mate who came to the pub to watch the game and the end of the game left a lasting memory and ultimately keeps the bandwagon going
2. I thought lynagh looked off the pace in the first half...better in the 2nd but i would have hooked him at half time
3. When the wallabies turned down the draw and kicked for touch i felt oddly confident we'd win it, based entirely on what this team has showed us over the last two months. A real winning culture building in this team
4. As good as we've been playing we still cant seem to put out an 80 performance. When we're in our groove we look very hard to contain, but there's still the ubiquitous 20 minutes of silly decisions and bad execution.. to be any chance of winning the bledisloe that needs to change.
Yes, we are grinding out some good wins without being at our best. The mindset in this squad is very good. Schmidt has instilled belief in the squad. And they have plenty of scope for improvement.

Thats really the next step for this team at this point...executing for 80 mins..we've been a rocks and diamond side for so long so thats easier said than done

Have to admit, I loved it when he mouthed "Fuck it, let's go for it" or something like that.
Doing my best lip read:

JOC (James O'Connor) to Wilson: "Oi - do you want it? Touch? Or nah?"

Wilson to Williams: "Fuck it, let's go touch"

*turns to his team mates, pumped as fuck*

"Okay, do we want this? Let's fucking go then!"

Chills. Literal chills.

Harry's leadership in that moment was immense. I saw his eyes out on storks a couple of times laying down the law as well. Love to see it. His own footy and the standards he's driving in this group are excellent.

I thought lynagh had a decent game. His kicking is much better than JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor). That kick to touch from JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor) when he came on was hard to watch. He gained about 15m.
Argentina are very good. Don't forget that. That was a ballsy win from the coach down
I would counter that with, at least he hit touch..

10. Tom Lynagh: A mixed bag. Misfired with a missed touch finder and defensive lapse for Argentina’s first try. Failed a second HIA – a concern for the 22-year-old. 5/10

Did Lynagh fail a HIA ???

There was no mention of it on coms, and it looked like he came off without a trainer and went straight to the bench. A big worry if true.

Edit: Crikey - this from rugby.com.au. Seems it was a mouthguard alert after he came off with hamstring tightness.
A fourth concussion this year has placed Tom Lynagh in doubt for the Bledisloe Cup and left Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt again assessing his flyhalf stocks.

The Australian No.10 failed a head injury assessment against Argentina in Townsville on Saturday, in what was Lynagh's return from a concussion suffered against the British and Irish Lions.

The 22-year-old will miss next Saturday's rematch in Sydney while Schmidt said there would naturally be doubts around his availability to face the All Blacks later this month.

"We gave him an extended rest after the third Test against the Lions and he felt good after that game and feels good now," Schmidt said.

"That's a good first sign, but we know he can't play next week and puts him in a bit of doubt for the Bledisloe.

"We won't be risking him in any way, shape or form and getting him the best medical advice."

....

But Schmidt said the brave playmaker was doing what he could to protect himself and revealed he had only left the field on Saturday because of a tight hamstring.

"His tackle technique is usually pretty sound," Schmidt said.

"We brought him off for a tight hamstring and it was after that they decided to do a HIA.

"Tom didn't flag it. I'm guessing it's from a mouthguard alert."
