KOB I hope you saw the Fiji v Wales game, we will be hard pressed to 'smoke' them as they are about the same level as us but with better performance coming into this cup.
It could well be by 12 but it will come down to opportunities.

Does points difference matter? If we beat Wales, unlikely, and finish on same number of points on the ladder, wouldn't we progress by having beaten them head to head?

I've been pondering this too. I think the issue is if it ends in a three way Group tie.

We beat Wales - we go ahead.
Wales beat Fiji, they go ahead.
Fiji beat Aus - they go ahead.

The for/against scenarios would come into play.

We beat wales by more than 7 then we have Portugal with not only a better plus minus but we stop wales getting a bp. Ideally we score 4 tries beat them by more than 7 then we are 5 points clear & they play Georgia.

The only thing that consoles me about the Wallabies likely being bundled out in the pool stages will be France throwing their game against Italy to see the All Blacks also bundled out.

Unless of course we beat Wales and France still does the dirty and we make it through but NZ doesn't :D :D :D

Which better performance? The 50 point loss to South Africa or losing against 13 men vs England?
