Of course Match of the round is important and should make up the majority of TV games. But let's not forget that Rugby at this level is all about the clubs, the players obviously but also the coaches and managers through to the canteen staff and the blokes who pack away the gear while everyone else is having a beer. Not to mention the parents of the players that get on tv. For some clubs and some players a TV game is a Really Big Deal and I don't think it hurts to SHARE THE LOVE with everyone!

Interesting topic.
I get to most games, even if they are on the box, you sound like you get to most games as well - maybe people need to go instead of complaining.
You mentioned kids of parents, surprised there aren't more parents enjoying an afternoon of rugby down at the local park.

TV is also about ratings, you want people watching it, and it also promotes our sport. Fairly sure there would be a greater audience watching a top of the table clash, rather than a game of the cellar dwellers.

You left out sponsors in the above, TV games gets sponsor branding out there.

Showing all the clubs on TV is important for promoting Rugby,& in particular for promoting each club.
A number of people would be more likely to watch a team that is not at the top of the table, simply because they have an affection/association for that club.
Everybody who only get to watch club Rugby on TV,doesn't just follow the top tier clubs.
Also ,how can the unfashionable clubs obtain sponsorship each year if that clubs exposure on TV is unlikely & therefore the sponsors get no exposure as a consequence.

Not disagreeing with you, it is a hard balance - TV is about ratings, whether it be a movie, a soapie, or a sporting event - it is about capturing an audience.

I referenced getting down to watch a game is another great way to support your club.

It is a truth universally acknowledged in rugby that you gotta go forward before you go wide. When William Webb Ellis picked up the ball at Rugby school and invented Rugby it was about ten minutes later that they realised you gotta go forward before you go wide.

Here at Wests we don't much go in for tradition. I've noticed the last couple of games the Brains that run rugby here have got a new game plan. The ball is now shifted wide at an almost frenetic pace side to side across the field. The forwards despite being very large humans have never been used properly all year and are now reduced to trying to trying to chase the ball like crazy all over the park with the result they look like out of breath asthmatics. It's a Brave New World at Wests where the new Maxim is 'you gotta go wide before you go wide!'

So if you're ever at Concord and you see a man in the crowd with his hands over his face watching the action through the cracks between his fingers then that'll be me. Come up and say Hi!

As the TV commentators pointed out Randwicks tactics on Saturday appeared to be to throw the ball around to run the big Wests forwards around. Seem to work too. Wests had to rely on ad lib rugby which it must be said they're very good at.

Ad lib rugby is all they've got. Do you even need a coach to play ad lib rugby? The result of ad lib rugby is you lose more games than you win.

Congratulations to the MMM on winning today's hard fought match against the Mighty Two Blues 28-15 (three tries to two). There'll be some very sore young men waking up in the morning, reaching for their phones and telling the boss that they won't be able to make it in.

Supporters of both clubs will take a lot of positives from the match but Manly take the points [or bacon :)].

There is a player at Wests that really annoys me. Actually most Wests players annoy me but this one stands out. I notice that whenever he comes off second best in a contact situation (which is quite often because he is very soft) you can see the red mist descend over him. Then he does something spiteful which usually means he dives at an opponents knees. It is very dangerous. He is a grub and someone from the club should pull him aside and have some strong words.

Was that 13? He did quite a few off the ball hits on Saturday

I trudged down the peninsula to catch some sunday footy. I thought it was a tough encounter. I think that Manly got pretty lucky. Only got meat pies when Parra had blokes in the bin. The ref was good to manly I would say. Questionable calls and questionable binnings all around though.

That game reminded a bit of origin, lots of niggle, ref lost control however unfortunately here he attempted to gain control by dealing out cards like it's the casino.

Most of the contributors on this thread follow a club.
From what I have seen, they continue to be supportive of their club , & make positive comments & suggestions about their club even when that club is underperforming & struggling to be competitive.
You, on the other hand, who purport to be a West Harbour supporter, have, over the months that you have been commenting on them, done nothing else but post negative
remarks about that club, the coach, the players in general & some in particular.
I can only assume that you are related to one of the players there,& that is the sole reason you go to watch them, obviously under sufferance. The fact that
your earlier posts had the Eastwood logo attached to them suggests which player that might be,& explain your criticism of certain of his competitors for his position.
I would be pleased to hear what positive contributions you make to your (?) club to improve its standing in the competition & in the eyes of the Rugby community .
I notice that Dave Beat ,above, invited you to join the Manly fraternity.I can't imagine why he thinks that would be a good idea from Maniy's point of view, but it
would probably be welcomed by the many hard working people who undoubtedly exist in the West Harbour club.

I thought Manly dominated most of the game, but didn't convert.
I didn't enjoy that game but the points were taken, I had an @Galah squawking behind me, whilst i was swearing frustration in the first half of seconds before he flew off

Ref - I think it was poorly ref'd and both sides had right to complain about it.
I'm sure the coaching team will take allot out of both games.

I'm ignoring that wind up - my position remains that while he views the thread with his beady eye - until the MMM's win the SS GF DB the Galah's wings are clipped and his beak sealed......
