I don't think we give enough credit for for this achievement,either in this code or the other one.
Wiping some egg on my face for calling them done a couple of weeks ago.
I assume they won it it in 2's as well.
Kudos.
Yes strong game, great watching and there was this other coach floating around at the Studs and Stunners ball living it up and feeling that winning feeling.
Beaches rugby sharing good times.

2s went down after the bell, but still bagged the minor premiership. In 2s there are 3 even teams and then a gap - for and against shows this.
We played different rugby today, I want to see it upped another level.

If professional players return in ones and push incumbents down a grade , how do the players moving down qualify for the lower level team?

"Open Selection" provisions can allow that.

33.5 If a club qualifies for the Final Series in consecutive grades then open selection may apply.

Open selection means the club can select its teams for the Final Series “on merit” provided;
(a) All selected players are registered as per the competition rules and;
(b) All selected sides are declared (subject to injury, judiciary hearings, etc.) to the Competition Manager on the prescribed form, no later than 3pm on the Monday before the semi-final, final or grand final and;
(c) Once open selection is broken during the course of the finals, a player can continue to play in the grade he last played in, or higher.

The NSWRU advised a couple of weeks ago that the highest placed 1st grade teams would host each of the finals games provided their grounds were available. Given the fact that Forshaw had already been allocated all the colts games I would have thought that the NSWRU would have had a couple of neutral venues up their sleeves on the assumption that Southern would finish in the top 3.

What am I talking about --- of course they wouldn't do that. The corporation always seems to get a home game no matter where they finish. After all, Uni Oval is the worst wet weather ground in the comp and is always a cow paddock by this time of the year so why wouldn't you play a finals game there? :mad:

In general terms, I agree with you, I just wasn't sure of the process. Rugby always seems to have little exemptions and rulings which benefit certain clubs and certain schools.:rolleyes:

Does anyone know what lower grade games are being played at which grounds on the weekend or do we have to wait for the NSWRU to announce this tomorrow?

7TWO stated yesterday that they will be at Uni Oval next Sunday.

^^^Unless Souths object and object strongly and then provide a genuine alternative, the matches next Sunday will be at Uni.

They could put Sunday's colts games at Uni and play the grade semmis at Forshaw, or they could find another vacant and suitable venue. David Phillips?

Colts finals on Sunday are being played at Chatswood Oval... So I guess this means Southern Districts will be playing at home as they deserve?

This is the draft programme that I believe is "doing the rounds".

10:15 am Eastwood (2) vs Eastern Suburbs (5) - Fourth Grade

Forshaw Park - Saturday
3:00 pm Randwick (1) vs Eastwood (6) - Colts 1

10:00 am Randwick (1) vs West Harbour (6) - Colts 3
10:00 am Sydney University (3) vs Northern Suburbs (4) - Colts 3 (Oval 2)

Why wouldn't 4th grade Manly v Norths play at Manly oval on Sunday and Uni v Souths play at forshaw on Sunday is it a home ground advantage issue??

i agree, wouldn't have thought so as manly 3 topped norths 4 - im with you, would have been commonsence

Because this way Norths 4s and 3s and Uni's 4s and 3s are playing together. (reserves)

Doesn't HJ following do the same, or is that just to sensible

Manly Oval - Saturday

Manly (1) vs West Harbour (6) - Second Grade
Eastern Suburbs (3) vs Northern Suburbs (4) - Third Grade

Randwick (3) vs Sydney University (4) - Second Grade
Sydney University (2) vs Randwick (5) - Third Grade
Sydney University (1) vs Southern Districts (6) - Fourth Grade

  • And we have Sydney uni 1 - 4 playing at the same ground, on the same day.
  • Nths 3's and 4's are supporting each other, & Easts have no other showing.
  • Randwick 2's and 3's also support each other.
To me the above is just so easy, and sensible.
