On Gibson, does anyone know if he has any Polynesian ancestry? Personally, to me, it looks like he has some sort of Polynesian ancestry, but had always assumed it was Maori. He has, however, never been capped by the Maori. Given he was on the verge of making the All Blacks at one point, I would expect that to be because he's simply not eligible.

Could it be, then, he's going to Moana Pasifika? Inter-franchise movements are typically pretty well documented, and MP (Moana Pasifika) haven't -- as far as I'm aware -- made any player announcements yet. Would explain the hush-hush nature.....

They picked Tupou Vaai last year as a bolter and that was a fine pick. Jordie should move to 2nd five and Jordan needs to learn how to tackle.

Zarn is going to be an AB eventually anyway so get him in the environment and get him up to speed - playing Tonga and Fiji it's the perfect chance.

If he doesn't make the ABs it seems nuts that he missed the Maori ABs.

When Tupou Vaa'i was selected NZ was in a lock crisis. He was a pretty controversial pick who performed well during Super Rugby Aotearoa. Zarn Sullivan played just one game of Super Rugby Aotearoa this year, so Foster would be essentially be selecting him based on TT Super Rugby form. I think the kid is a very promising prospect, but with Jordie Barrett, Beauden Barrett, Damien McKenzie and Will Jordan ahead of him at 15, it's not like there is a shortage of fullbacks to pick from. There is no point in rushing him into test rugby before he is ready.

I understand the reasons for not picking Zarn - I just don't think it's as crazy as it might seem initially.

Yep and get what you saying Kiwi, if we had injury crisis at 15 , you do get feeling he wouldn't let us down.

Yeah exactly - plus I feel there's still some question marks over the AB fullback options - there's plenty of options but no one really has 15 nailed down.

Jordie was poor at fullback in Brisbane (but hasn't had that many chances), Jordan hasn't had a test yet at fullback and for all his attacking brilliance has question marks in defence. Beauden wants to play 10 clearly. DMac has been in and out of the side and was coming back from injury last year etc.

Would be pretty funny if Zarn got one chance in black and "did a Mils" aka, made zero mistakes from the start and go on to make basically zero mistakes for 10 years and in doing so, make himself undroppable. Despite not being pegged as a specialist fullback at the start, I think Mils made less errors at 15 in 10 years than Jordie makes in one test series.

Naa Mate, I know Blues supporters do struggle with it, but 15 is between Dmac and JB with probably JB ahead.
I reckon Jordan is a wing, head on defence comes undone at 15 too often. reckon BB will be back up 10, or on bench.

I'm not disagreeing - i'm just saying they still have to prove it at test level.

DMac showed some encouraging signs this season of reducing his error rate. Hopefully that trend continues.

Had to watch a replay, just to hear TJ's anti-Auckland dreams shattered into a million blue shards.

2nd half he was giddy with joy as the Landers came back. Dare to dream, TJ! Dare to dream! Blues reduced to little more than baddie bit part players.

Best part was 2 mins to go as Blues, up by 8, did the pod and plop thing to run out the clock and TJ's voice was resigned, RESIGNED, I TELL YOU, to defeat. You just KNOW if the Landers were ahead and doing their pod and plop to run out the clock TJ's voice would be tremulous and crackling with exultant joy. But no. This is clearly a terrible, terrible time for TJ. Then Blues got their ploppy pod turned over! Penalty Landers! TJ suddenly in high spirits again.

Then Blues win and radio silence from TJ.

Probably already left the booth.

Fucking wanker.

^ "Loss Bleus have revealed their major off-season signing. "He's our designated Messiah for 2022," a Loss Bleus spokesPillock told the Pitcairn Times. "Hopefully he's a fuckin' sight better than all those other useless pricks we've tried in the Designated Messiah role since NZR told Carlos he wasn't wanted." "
