Woodies effectively control TG Millner, so they are not at the whim of some council bureaucrat who doesn't like the rain.
Could go ahead. (Woodies v Beasties)

Manly Oval Closed. (MMM v Shoremen)

No 1 Oval (and St Andrews/ St Pauls Oval) closed for colts. (Randi-Wix v BuildCorp)

Rat Park ? Likely to be closed. Merrylands RSL Park [Super Saturday] Outer fields closed. (M2B v Rats) - moved to June Long Weekend.

Forshaw Park is not a council oval. Still open at this stage. Probably going to be closed heavy/waterlogged, especially if there is a high tide. (Hobbits v Highlanders)

West Harbour v The Bye will go ahead.

Could be rather busy on the Long Weekend, if there aren't any mid week catch up games scheduled.

Edit: Stop the Press. This just in from @Boyo on the Uni Thread
<snip>
Unfortunately due to the wet weather we have been forced to postpone all games expect 1st Grade for our Saturday Night Football fixture tomorrow (Saturday May 2nd, 2015).

No. 1 Oval
1st Colts 17:50
<snip>

^^ I thought so as well, but this from Hobbiton Council website suggests otherwise.
http://www.sutherlandshire.nsw.gov.au/Outdoors/Parks-and-Sports/Ovals/Forshaw-Rugby-Park

Maybe Council just manage the park on behalf of the Trust (or whatever legal structure has been set up) "owns" the park.
Souths own the main field and cover all costs associated to the ground. Council controls the back fields, i think
The social media has colts all on and on the main field

All Woodies colts grades playing on top oval at T.G.Milner tomorrow. 1st and 2nd Grade (Shute Shield) have moved to T.G.Milner main oval, and 3rd and 4th grade (SS) postponed.

"Tomorrows EDRUFC fixture V Easts has been transferred to TG Millner for 1sts and 2nds main field with Colts on no 2. Get to Millner tomorrow and support the Woods! No council grounds open, no kids sport , no excuses! woods! Woods! Woods!"

Two Blues and Rats Colts moved to long weekend. They were meant to be part of an all club day but Parra council closed the outer grounds. All grade on the main deck which is managed by the club.

Uni vs Randwick 1st colts 24-22. Epic battle

Randwick won 3rds colts 28-23, not 100% sure about the 2nds but from what I recall it may have been 20-13 to the men in green? Uni had a chance to snare a draw towards the end and peppered the Wicks line but turned the ball over.. Some very tight games last night!

well hopefully there is some dry weather footy this weekend. some predictions:
Randwick v manly - Randwick to avenge mid week loss to uni and win convincingly
Gordon v parra - cant see the two blues winning, but sure they will give a good show
norths v souths - norths but not by much - sths have been playing good rugby
Warringah v bye - first points to the rats
uni v woods - uni to continue after Tuesday night and roll woods by plenty
wests v easts - wests to win in a tight one

Southern Districts Reports - Round 7

ROUND 7: GORDON MATCH REPORT
It was hard to believe that the game against Gordon would still be on after all the rain. The staff at Southern Districts should be applauded for their work to have the main field ready for 4 games.
It was going to be a big days rugby as Gordon are doing very well, and Souths are battling through a period of player unavailability - due to injury, rep football and the Schools rep programs starting. We are in for a few more weeks of challenges.
The 18s started the day with a solid 22 to 12 victory and it highlighted that the days rugby was going to be close. Strong forward play and backs to take any opportunities were the way to go, and the 18s were able to achieve this and continued there unbeaten run in their comp.

3rds have been in a play well, then play poorly, play well sequence and were in the play well phase, but were up against an unbeaten Gordon side.
The wet field took the edge of both sides attacking options, and revolved around a forwards game and who could maintain possession the longest at the right end of the field.
Unfortunately, 3rds lost 17 to 13, but could easily have won on the bell with Souths camped on the Gordon line for the last 3 or so minutes. It was a great turn around from the week before.

2nds were looking to build on their good victory the week before, but Gordon came with a simple game plan off the back of a much heavier pack of forwards, who dominated the scrums and the in tight play.
Souths struggled to get any good ball. Gordon were able to use their forward dominance to grab 5 tries through rolling mauls or scrum push overs winning 34 to 7.
The wet conditions took our back-line out of the game and it proved we are not runners.

1sts was a big game for both sides and it was reflected by the physicality of both teams. Contrasting styles with Souths trying to open the game up and were making good yardage, whereas Gordon were a lot more measured with a good kicking game, strong forward game and the defense from both sides was hurtful.
Gordon were not throwing too much in general play and were waiting for the right chances in the Souths 22, whereas Souths were making some long range attacks, but good last line scrambling defense by Gordon was starting to frustrate Souths.
Gordon scored a first half converted try through forward hit-ups, and 2 good penalty goals to Souths had Gordon up 7 to 6 at halftime.
An early penalty goal to Souths had us up 9 to 7, and it stayed that way until the about the 72nd minute when Rory Davis went of injured. Gordon were able to score and a mis-directed clearing kick shortly after gave Gordon good field position which allowed Gordon to score the winning try.
Players from both sides should be complimented on the game they played and the spirit in which they played. It was very competitive and combative and Gordon played the conditions a bit better than Souths - who just could not finish of some fine attacking play.
Souths picked up 3 more injuries and with about 25 players unavailable we will pick ourselves up and wipe of the mud and prepare for Norths at Norths.

Player of the day goes to Craig Hawkings our GM who ended up having to referee the 18s game, and had the game flowing but don't give up your day job!!

Picked 2 from the 3 games played so far in round 7, with the Beasties not repaying my faith in them.
With the slop, the games were always going to be closer than "normal", and there were some very even contests.

Round 8 tips
A couple of key games that will confirm relative positioning on the table, with the Rats likely to register their first win of the season.

Manly v Randwick. The Mighty Manly Marlins will be fresh due to their game being postponed last weekend, and the Wicks will be a little tired and hurting from their loss and quick turnaround from Tuesday nights game. This will bring the margin a little closer than would usually be the case.
Even without their rockstars, the Wix will win by 10-15.

Gordon v Parramatta. The Mighty 2 Blues are rebuilding their roster in 2015 and have struggled to be competitive at times, meanwhile the Highlanders have been impressive in most outings this season and thoroughly deserve to be in 4th position on the ladder. The M2B seem unable to maintain the intensity for the full 80 minutes and lapses in concentration and their inattention to detail at critical moments has cost them dearly on the scoreboard. While the Highlanders will be made to work fairly hard for their points, they should be far too good on a dry track at home and will win by 20+.

Northern Suburbs v Southern Districts. Probably Match of the Round. With a game in hand, the Shoremen are undefeated and have a chance to top the table if they can roll the Hobbits. The Hobbits depth will be tested with a big Team Rehab group as well as key players on rep duties. They will struggle to match the pace and guile of the classy Red and Black backs while it should be a really good ding dong battle up front in the single digits. Shoremen to take the chocolates by 10-15, without needing to have spectators assist the referee in key decision making.

The Bye v Warringah. The Rats have really struggled all year, but The Bye has been consistently worse. Rats will break their duck and score a 4 try BP win by exactly 28 points.

Sydney University v Eastwood. Quick turnaround game for BuildCorp who will be without their U20 Rockstars and may be feeling a little worse for wear after their midweek duel against the Wix, but they have good depth in their roster and will be far too good for the Woodies. Sadly we won't be seeing the the Ed Craig vs Folau Fainga battle due to the latter being on rep footy duties. The Corporation will win by 15-25.

West Harbour v Eastern Suburbs. I backed the Beasties on a coin toss last weekend, and lost out. Not this time. Fresh out of a Bye, the Pirates will be fancying their chances at home against a fellow struggler, but it will be close with some cards dished out evenly. Hopefully we will see the Ted Pye vs Tommy Sawden clash at 9 go ahead, and if it does, that will be worth the price of admission alone. Pirates to win by 7-10.
