Jack McGregor (Riverview) has signed with Gordon... will be interesting to see how many of his team mates follow in his footsteps, a bunch of them having played, and been successful, at the club in the junior rep days.

I Keep seeing posts that kids have already signed with clubs. What have they signed? Surely none have registered already. It will be interesting to see who does officially end up where.

@Sydney Rugby Tragic & @redblack, as this thread is in the public domain, and rather widely read, it may be worth considering deleting your original posts if they are incorrect about a player changing clubs.
Young up and coming players do not need to have others questioning their loyalty, or motivations, on the basis of some "breaking news" that was a "little off the mark".

Probably a little different when "spilling the beans" about a seasoned professional player.

have Easts released who will be the full time colts director?
Any idea when clubs begin pre-season training?

EASTERN SUBURBS MAKING WAVES IN PROGRESSIVE COLTS SYSTEM.
Eastern Suburbs may be Sydney’s oldest district rugby club, but in season 2016 the club will look to funnel an abundance of resources into its newest recruits at Woollahra Oval.
Easts has announced the launch of a new colts program for the upcoming season, in the hope to improve on the 3rd Placed finish of the Colts I team and the fifth place finish in the Colts club championship in 2015.
As part of the initiative, the Beasties have taken on former first grade captain Pauli Taumoepeau as full-time Director and Head Coach of Colts.

Leading into his third season as the driving force behind the colts program, having previously worked on part-time basis, Taumoepeau said his new role will add an element of depth to the under 20 system.
“It will add more professionalism to the program, just because I’m here full time I’ll be able to dedicate more time to the individual,” he said.
According to the former backrower, in order for Easts to compete with the strongest colts programs Sydney has to offer, it was vital to expand their resources, giving them the best chance to move forward.
“We are looking to widen the coaching staff next year for colts. We will have a specialist Colts scrum coach (working under the direction of Club Scrum Coach – Andrew Blades), Colts Defensive coach (working in line with our 1st Garde Defence Coach) and Colts Skills coach (being mentored by Club Skills Coach, All Black Legend – Andrew Merhtens) . We are providing a high performance environment for the players to succeed,” Taumoepeau said.
“Because Easts are serious about wanting to develop young guys and wanting to make this club very competitive, they found it very important to put me on full time. The main reason of my appointment was so we could compete at every level.”
In directing their focus more towards the younger demographic of players coming through the club, Easts has recognised the need to implement an off-field support network, in order to ensure players maintain a well-rounded approach to their rugby.
The club has even employed their own Career and Education Mentor, Anna Gill, to link players with universities and assist in the progression from school into the workforce and tertiary education.
“A big draw card for us is that we care about the boys off field as much as we do on field. We want them to go to Uni, we want them to work in a career focused job. Rugby is six to twelve hours of the week at this level, so if you are going to prioritise in terms of time then rugby isn’t at the top,” Taumoepeau said.
“So our attraction is that we have put in place the off field initiatives like Anna, where you can go and see her if you need help with a course or if you are struggling for work and she will be able to put you in touch with something specifically catered to your needs. ”
On the rugby side of things, the club has recruited strongly, penning the signatures of some of the country’s best up and coming talent.
With the likes of Australian schoolboy centre pairing Dan England and James Hawkins, as well as Australia A openside Charlie Smith, the Beasties are looking to field a powerful colts outfit in the coming season.
Continuing its long tradition of nurturing raw talent from the country, Easts has also locked down St Stanislaus brothers Daniel and James Donato, the latter of which represented NSW schools in 2015.

with the money being spent and the players and coaches coming to easts, anything short of a 1st colts premiership will be an unsuccessful season.

Larry Dwyer (12)
That depends on how you measure success, sure a premiership would be expected but I think an ongoing pipeline of committed, talented players coming into your senior grades would also be considered a success.

The measure of success will surely be some long term goals with a view to improving the overall long term performance of the club across all grades and colts.

Pauliasi Taumoepeau, working full time, will be a great asset to the Beasties club and their colts programme in particular.

With more clubs deciding to invest in their colts programmes, this has to be good for SRU overall, and it should flow on into NSW U20's, Shute Shield and NRC franchises, as the Colts graduates move on up into Grade and semi pro footy.

Eastwood Rugby Club coaching staff announced

Following on from one of the most successful seasons in the Club's history, we are pleased to announce a major new initiative which will strengthen the Club's coaching resources and build on the success of recent years.

Our 1st grade coach, John Manenti has accepted an invitation from the Board to assume a new position - Director of Rugby - and to assume total responsibility for all aspects of the Club's football operations.

John has commenced work in this new role already and is working on strengthening our coaching team in Grade and in Colts. John will also be responsible for recruitment and player and coach development.

John will fulfil this role in conjunction with his new appointment to the Australian Men's and Women's 7s teams. Our Club could not be more pleased with this recognition of John's exceptional coaching capabilities and we wish him all the success that he so richly deserves

Does anyone else think it "odd" to go public with a new coaching structure and list coaches except Colts 3 and then say if anyone is interested give us ring?

^^^ No. It is the third of October 2015.

The Thirsty Thirds. Hmmm. I'd don't think that too many clubs will have got their plans sorted for the 2016 Colts 3rds yet, unless the 2015 blokes have said "OK, we're good for another year".

I don't think that any club has even started their pre-pre-Season training yet, and that is for the Show ponies in Colts 1 and the 2015 Colts 3 and Colts 2 aspirational who think they are chance for the big show in 2016.

I would have thought a focus on the u18 team would be vital to ensure junior club players ease into colts. Neither Eastwood or easts mention what they are doing in that space. I think it's a vital level to develop for a lot of reasons including a way to keep the filthy mungos away from our up and coming players

One hopes that there will be an Under 18's (or Colts 4ths) competition next year. While not an unbridled success in 2015, there was enough support to suggest that it is worth giving it another go next season, this time with a bit more time to recruit and prepare for.

It seems some clubs/Districts may have been caught napping this season. Let's hope for a full roll up in 2016.

Easts can't get enough kids for U16s,and some years not even an U15s team. Due to the very high component of their population going to Private schools, recruiting enough for an u18s seems nigh on impossible!

This, from another thread.
Watched Porter a few times in the emerging Stars. All class. One of my favs. Also saw young Lough have a half a game. Pretty solid pairing for Uni colts next year

Both Lough Jnr and Porter missed out on Schoolboys 2014 and Lough Jnr for Schoolboys/Barbarians 2015, even though many on here believe both were worthy of the ASRU Selectors approval. Not the first time that this has happened, and won't be the last either. Colts, Grade and now NRC are the great levellers that facilitate the rising of the cream.

The good news for The Corporation is that having represented NSW at Div 1 National Schoolboys Championships, they are only 4 Player Points players and not 6 Player Points. Further Porter will be 3 Player Points in 2016 with 1 years loyalty discount. Effectively they have landed 12 Player points for 7.

Meanwhile Gordon and Beasts, who would have had these at 2 Player points (max discount as former local Juniors), can only go "wibble".

The prospect of seeing Lough Snr face off against Lough Jnr in the Gordon v Uni Colts 1 next year may be worth the price of admission alone.

Easts are building an exceptional team for season 2016. After a great 2015, and some quality talent, adding the likes of England, McCauley, Hawkins, Strang, and Smith, all from scots, and aussie schoolboys, they will be the club to beat in my opinion. Staying under the points cap may be the main issue though.

the amended player points structure will make some selections very interesting. I think it adds a more level playing field.
