DIV 6 tips
Burraneer Vs Syd Harbour - Mighty Oysters by 3
Georges River vs Penrith - Georges river by 12
Manly Savers VS Merrylands - Top of the table clash, going to go with the upset here. Merrylands by 4
Oatley Vs Cronulla - Cronulla lads get it done by 18

Oysters
Penrith
Savers
Sea Lice

Some close ones in there - Burra did rather well I thought despite the scoreline.

Huge call from Knox. Especially when their colts have the week off. Doesn’t make sense that a club last week ran a 2s with at least 3 fresh subs and a colts side whose 9 from 9 (with 9 bonus points) can’t get 15 together from 30+ guys last week. Tough for Blacktown in this situation.
I will provided some defence for Knox - way back in March all clubs were told 5 July was a guaranteed bye. Their division was also turned on it head a few weeks in compounded by a void match and washouts.
When players hear there is a bye they act immediately - book holiday, buy tickets or pencil in some time with significant others who get overlooked during the throes of a season.

what I can’t work out is not being able to scrape together a team when you should have a whole colts squad that can step in. Maybe there wasn’t an appetite to take on the Blacktown lads?

100% agree with you on the late change and guys going away. But as you said not being able to field a side at all is a concerning trend. Just seems like this week has been booked as a catch up for over a month and then to pull the pin the day before. Someone should of stepped in the world of being able to reschedule games instead of forfeiting

Why are we no longer noting in the app if the game is a forfeit or the score being listed as 28-0 by Subbies. Seems like forfeit is a dirty word and we don’t want to admit when one happens. It makes for confusing tables with washouts and rescheduling of games

Four YCs seems like there's still some poor discipline issues though.

Agreed that 4 in one game is a bit excessive.

It is interesting to look at the yellow card count - with 9 games listed they had no cards in 5 of them. The other 4 games:

10/05 v Drop Bears - 1 x Repeat/Intentional Offence
14/06 v Sea Lice - 1 x Repeat/Intentional Offence
28/06 v Burraneer - 2 x Repeat/Intentional Offence, 1 x Illegal Tackle
05/07 v Drop Bears - 3 x Illegal Tackle, 1 x Repeat/Intentional Offence

I see a few new names on team sheets so it might also be guys adapting to new tackle height as they re-enter the game this year.

Still, it averages one yellow card per match, 5 Repeat/Intentional and 4 Illegal Tackle.

You know who else averages one yellow card per match? Hunters Hill Kentwell. :)

Of the 7 yellow cards in as many matches, they have:
5 x Illegal Tackling
1 x Repeat/Intentional Offence
1 x Form of striking

It doesn't mean either side is better or worse in discipline terms, in my humble opinion.

Yeah this is bang on. Plenty of the wider grade squad pencilled in commitments with this week being flagged as a week off with plenty of notice. Further, the only reason this week was being played at all was because subbies pulled Barker after 1 week in the competition against Knox in week 1, where both grades picked up bonus point wins that were stripped.

Unfortunate but it is what it is, looks like a bunch of 2nd graders made their first grade debuts in a convincing win regardless, I imagine they'll be back to two full sides next week, coincidentally also against Blacktown, for double points, on the road.
