Un-Australian Activities 2019

Far too busy at work & home for blogging this season but thought there should still be a thread for keeping up to date with non-Strayan Super Rugby.

Round 1:

Fri 15/02 Tribe v Clan
I'd go but we're having a bit of a do for a bloke who's been with the company & its predecessors for 60 years (not a typo, bloke is 76 & apart from a six month LOA while he got his prostate cancer seen to he's been there since pubs closed at 6 & TV wasn't in NZ yet. Amazing achievement, that).

Sat 16/02 Bloos v CruSadists
I'd go but last Thursday it took me over two hours to do the 116km to Penrose & on Friday even longer to get back. Auckland traffic is truly, deeply & seemingly permanently fucked. Thought about training it but don't fancy being vomited on or worse by some drunk bogan(s) - and that's on the way up.

Sat 16/02 Sunwolves v Shawks
In Singapore so the Sethfrickens don't bleat about all the extra travel they have do c.f. us Australasians.

Sun 17/02 Bulls v Stormers
Shoot me now, please.

Sun 17/02 Jags v Lions
Potentially the un-Australian MOTR.

So Jack Debreczeni can't crack the Chiefs round 1 side despite losing Tiaan Falcon for the season during the week, and McKenzie being rested (or injured, I'm not sure).

Orbyn Leger who isn't even listed in the squad starts at 10 and Stephen Donald who joined the squad a few days ago is on the bench.

Interestingly, the Chiefs website lists Debreczeni as an outside back so perhaps they see him as a fullback option?!?

Right now if everyone but Falcon were fit I'd say he's the third-choice 10 behind DMac & Beaver simply because Beaver has those 100+ Super Rugby matches behind him.

I would reckon he behind DMac, he went pretty well in trial game last week, and don't think Beaver has played any rugby so will be behind, shit Beaver behind Leger who is basically a centre, and looked completely lost against Reds last week!

Brutes vs Stormers will be interesting. Brutes are the favourates at Loftus and look much stronger with Vermeulen and Brits in their ranks. Brutes by 50

It's Glen Jackson and his 60 Chiefs caps. Not surprising, unfortunately. We can also add another TMO to the list who apparently must've failed primary school comprehension in over ruling an on-field Highlanders try at the start of the match.

Glen Jackson will be disappointed with the teams performance tonight. Did every thing he could, but the other boys just couldn't close it out. Can probably put it down to early season rust, but the Chiefs will need to work on their cohesion across all 16 players if they're wanting to make it to the postseason.

Always hard to see a guy bust his guts only to be let down by his teammates.
