Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

Agree. For these young men it's the biggest games they have played so far and they get coached by someone who just wants to be a coach but probably shouldn't be. I don't know what Grey has done to earn this role that should be used to develop up and coming coaches that will also flow into Super Rugby.

I feel for our 9. He was constantly on the back foot looking for the 10 or some some ball runners which weren't there. Ripley showed glimpses but the backrow need to fire up and take some carries to allow the backline to move forward.

Kalani had runners everywhere. His slow distribution was the issue with this limiting options because the Argies were on top of the Aussies.

Did he really have runners everywhere? For
large chunks I thought they were absent, flat footed, overran or slow getting into position.

just a disjointed team thrown together late, they’ll be better next week with more time together

I think you will find the Fiji game will have a complete new team, with the players from game 1 returning against NZ.
Probably. Hopefully with a bit more intent and urgency in the forward pack in both game. Should be bleeding green and gold by FT if they are serious.

Crucial mistake cost or put unforced pressure on field position (not withstanding the resulting puzzling scrum interpretation which was impossible to defend).

1. Ripley basic knock on - gave Arg field position that led to first penalty try
2. Annan kick out on full after scrum pass from outside 22 - led to second penalty try
3. Numerous kicks that went out on full
4. Inaccurate line-out throw

Fix the basic stuff and they will be competing against NZ.

The commentator on Friday night listed Nathan Grey coaching resume and it absolutely sounds like a job for him.

has been on coaching staffs with the rebels and warratahs - Sounds like a up and coming coach to me…. Just waiting for his first opportunity.
they referred to U20's as a pathway, my thought was the Grey has previously been on a pathway and failed.

The game plan was to kick for territory based on the strength of the opposition forwards, wet weather and the speed in the outside back. Territory was gained but not capitalised. God forbid the final score if they played a 50/50 ball in hand game in these conditions. The set piece was a disaster and if they achieve a 25% success rate the final score would have put them in front by a a couple of tries. The scrutiny the backs are receiving here needs to be directed at the poor performance of the set piece. A shit load of improvement needed here.

Can only comment on the Force lads;

Siosifa Amone is a big strong prop and you could see the difference he made when he came on in the first game.

Connor Seve, is also a baulking lad and very tall, the kind of build we need for future locks.

I think George Poolman has being playing Shute Shield but I saw him in a couple of friendlies at the start of the year for the Force and looks to have good potential.

Luke Callan brother to Ollie Callan who plays for The Force, had a decent first up game at lock.

Not sure why the VC starts from the Bench?

Bowen has had some good matches at Easts. I have been even more impressed by Teddy Wilson. I will be keen to see him get a few minutes as reserve halfback in this game

yeah, I was the opposite on Wilson. Heard big wraps and didn't see anything that matched it. His pass was pretty average when I saw it.

This team looks like the priority is developing the U19 boys for next year. The set piece in general was not good, the continual kicks in play when we had the ball looked like running rugby was not a game plan. It was not a pretty game to watch and the Argie's did not help in opening up the game by continually resetting the scrum. Not a show piece for rugby but they won the game, well done to their coaching team.
plenty of 20 year olds playing prem rugby in Brisbane that were left out of this that would surely had a better showing especially in the front row.

Very comprehensive victory for the good guys over Fiji: 58-5.

Hard to single out anyone in particular as it was so dominant, forwards were great, backs dangerous etc. etc Though Teddy Thomas was awesome off the bench.

Teddy Wilson?

Also thought they were great across the board, with a dominant scrum and slightly better weather they were able to really tear through them in the open. Hard to compare much from this game to the last though, Fiji looked a step or two behind.
