Wallabies 2025

Mr Pilfer

I know most countries have lost players overseas but I just think it has more of an impact on Australia because we don't have the same depth as the others.

Below is a classic example;

- James Slipper - test debut 2010 - played 151 tests
- Will Skelton - test debut 2014 - played 33 tests
- Samu Kerevi - test debut 2016 - played 50 tests

Those last 2 players we could have built a side around for the last 10 years and had a lot more success, but we went down this path of not picking overseas players. I understand why they did it but I just don't think we were strong enough to exclude once in a generation type players.

Worth noting that for all their careers Skelton and Kerevi could have been picked under the Giteau laws, but our coaches chose not to select them

Both of them were pretty much picked as much as possible under the Giteau law when available.

Kerevi in particular was regularly selected after he left.

There wasn’t really as much push to select Skelton until a few years ago.

Could this French Test possibly be Schmidt's last in charge? I know he's signed up for the first 3 Tests next year, but with the way things are going, rumors about the camp and the fact that in a perfect world Joe wanted to already be done by now would it make more sense for both sides to just rip the band aid off now

I think there’s a good chance

Yeah, was listening to the ESPN pod and it seems there is not that greatest feeling in the team. I think the way JOC (James O'Connor) has been shoveled out has raised eyebrows. Not sure why you wouldn't have him in the squad for one more week pushing for selection and then just don't pick him for the France game if you don't want him in the 23? Odd.

The leadership group all wanted him in after Italy and the squad were all shocked he wasn't going to France, Schmidt has also lost the dressing room & seems to want nothing to do with the media

All part of the master plan for the worst AUs coach of all time

from the SMH

"Rugby Australia has backed Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt after three successive defeats against England, Italy and Ireland and says there is “no indication” that the New Zealander would leave his role before next July."

Yep! In Joe we now 'don't trust'.
