Wallabies v Japan 25 Oct

Sucks this isn’t on any FTA. Pacific Championships and WNBL on 9s channels with the ODI on Kayo v India.
It'd be great if the games in Japan (and anywhere in the rest of the pacific) were on the anti-siphoning list like the kiwi ones. Anything friendly time zone like that ideally should be. Certainly I think the argument can be made for the pacific ones, though I'm not sure anyone in a position to make it directly benefits enough to bother.

Yep, no-one is going to lobby for it are they.

Nine don't want it, they have other games on. RA don't want it - they want to the sweet sweet Stan cash.

I also think the number of people under 40 watching FTA on a Saturday arvo is rapidly approaching zero, so not sure there's much "grow the game" point either.

I think RA would like it to force Nine to play it, but they won't ever be seen lobbying for it, least they risk pissing off Nine/Stan.

If it did happen, I don't think the 2-4 games per world cup cycle it would be would actually hurt the broadcast deal though - they're mostly going to be bonus games on top of what we usually play in a season. As much as Nine/Stan might not want it they're not going to quibble over it if it happened outside of RA's control.

Anti-siphoning was flimsy last I checked. Cricket Australia's home ODIs are/were on it. They worked around that by having Seven Network agree to not show it. Regardless, there's no law forcing Rugby Australia and Nine Entertainment to have today's game only on pay TV/streaming.

Yeah, Nine has the ability to play any Australia or even Super Rugby game on FTA if they want to don't they? They own the rights

That's not the business model though. Pay for Stan

Oh yeah, it doesn't force anything, but they are generally more inclined to air them and it is a bit of a lever for public pressure.

Need a strong win this afternoon

WIn. We need a win from the Aussie "z's". I'm completely frustrated by Schmidt treating Japan so dismissively. So they better fucking win. Big time.

Now when I calm down (over what seems to me Azzuri 2) I'm really keen to see how Edmed and Stewart go. Good to see Pietsch back. Nonngorr starting is big. Flook and Paisami - wow. Love these guys but at this level I'm hoping for big performance.

Nasser/Pollard bothers me in the line out. Time for them to strut their stuff too.

If you take out the 4 players he couldn’t select, and I think Suallii and Jorgensen have been left out to foil any plans that Eddie had to ‘take them out of the game’, it’s not far off our strongest team.
