Wallabies v Lions, 19 July Suncorp

Shiggins

Michael Lynagh (62)
I actually rate that from Wilson. Fuck the ball off the boys lost by 8 in a game where okeef let curry sit offside all game, allowed a reckless tackle in the air go unpunished, let a shoulder charge to legs go unpunished that cost the wallabies 7. Bounce of the ball didn't go the wallabies way for potter twice with what could have been a 5m line out and a 5 points.

Schmidt needs to wake the hell up and pick our best players to start. Tate, Donaldson, bell. Tizzano I just don't know, it's almost a guarantee he will score a try in a game he plays but mcreight is elite.

I really wanted 12 Ikitau 13 JAS but I now put it down as needing work.
I also would have wanted more from teh loosies in finding space with passing just off the tight ruck.
Williams did not match up as a #5 for me. [Edit: I have disagreed with other opinions that I thought were simplistic given the task tonight. That ciritcsm works against me here too. Still, a #5 has a job to do.]

Really chuffed that against a much bigger team, we matched in the scrum and probably should have taken them on more in the maul.

The finishers looking to push opportunities was good.

We really were not as far behind these guys as I expected. Bring back Valetini. Depending on game plan also Skelton.

Thoughts,

We had the yipps to start
We're losing the aerial contest
The ruck is a mess but we adjusted a little bit after 20 or so
Lynagh is being way too conservative in his kicking
JAS is looking like a liability in defence
Our linespeed in defence is costing us huge meters
Pretty good summary WF.

Joe was found out tactically tonight.

That's rough. Joe was handicapped by the physical size difference and by the fact the the very big bastard Lions also have skills. Working with it, Joe had put a game plan together that got close. But no cigar.

Personally I'd like Joe to stick to his tactics but now get the boys together around "well, have you got a better idea of what we were looking for now?"
