People complained about the refereeing last night (and largely were right to) but would refereeing of that style actually suit us better compared with Ben O'Keefe's style of refereeing?

Ben O'Keefe is arguably the top flight referee who will most try to underplay foul play and not hand out cards.

Lynagh passed the ball a total of 12 times in the 60 minutes he played. For a lot of that period we were under pressure and had very little ball in the Lions half. Donaldson made 13 passes in 20 minutes.

I don't think Ikitau's carries rather than passing were a mistake. They were largely under pressure against a set defensive line and little opportunity. I think spreading the ball wider in those situations just results in turnovers.

McDermott was great when he was on but I wouldn't now start him because of that. Does he do substantially better in a half where the game is a lot tighter, we're getting dominated physically and the main thing the halfback is doing is clearing kicks from the base of the ruck? I don't think it would be a reasonable assumption to suggest that the first half struggles were down to the halfback rather than having a pack getting smashed on both sides of the ball. If you swap them around I think you end up with the worst of both worlds.
Fair call. I still think Donno is our best 10 and should start.

Flook has replaced Daugunu after his concussion (he was already training with the squad):

He's pretty unlikely to be in the 23, but it's not unbelievable the ends up on the bench given he covers centre and wing.

Which I think is reasonable but I'd be surprised if we switched now.

I also think if Donaldson started we'd be having the reverse argument and wondering whether Lynagh should start because we looked better in the second half.

Curry just kept pushing the envelope. He had free reign

I reckon we'll see a pretty dramatic change in attitude for the second test. We didn't set the tone physically, got completely outmuscled and then didn't stick up for our guys.

It has been talked about a lot and there's no way the team hasn't heard that. I'd also be very surprised if it hasn't also happened internally.

We could do worse than getting Salakaia-Loto and Gamble down to Wallabies training to give a pep talk on passion and playing for the guys next to them. The Lions played the first half of the first test at least like their lives depended on it. We certainly didn't.

If you really believe in your heart of hearts that he was treated the same as any other 17 year old and was brought across purely based on his absolute superior talent and athleticism I stand corrected. Please accept my sincere apology.
Maybe we scout the UK for more 17 year old exceptional talent that might be floating around.
I'm sorry you missed out on junior rep honours to a coaches son. But it's 100% not how it works for the grown ups.

It was interesting how Pollock targeted Uru in the game yesterday. Uru being one of the least aggressive players. He wasn’t having it.
Bell, Skelton, Valetini, Gleeson and even Paisami just would not let it go unchecked.
They need to protect whoever the 10 is.

Funny!

Tommy Turbo seems to be a sensitive subject for you.

We obviously have different views on what he brings and where he ranks in Australia. I am also sure we will be miles apart on what we believe his ceiling to be.

So let’s just agree to disagree without venturing into a
psychoanalysis of my childhood years trying to find a plausible reason on why I have a different opinion than you.

In the end we all have our different opinions but the scoreboard never lies.

Christy Doran is reporting that the backline will be the same and the forwards will feature Skelton, Valetini, Gleeson and Porecki with a 6:2 bench.

Faessler, Champion de Crespigny and Hooper likely to miss out. I assume Kellaway also misses if we go to a 6:2 bench.

If this is what Joe is going with who will cover 12 and 13 in case of injury?

Would love LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) on the bench and have a 6-2 split but might be too tough a task backing up from Tuesday.
I know he's not in the squad and he's probably a bit banged up after last night, but jeez I'd like to see LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) on the bench along with Hooper.

Test back-rower Rob Leota was nodding before the question was finished. After what we have seen in the last few weeks, should Lukhan Salakaia-Loto be rushed into a gold jersey?

“Yes. 100 per cent,” Leota said.
Leota is not alone, judging from the commentary of ex-Wallabies like Michael Hooper and a growing number of baffled supporters in the digital town squares of Australian rugby.

Someone has been reading GAGR I reckon.

Some highly regarded and credentialed coaches, selectors and pundits disagree with your analysis.
But it's not your analysis that annoys me. You've got plenty of company here to join in the let's pile on the latest young Wallaby 10.

It's your slanderous assertion that his dad somehow pulled the strings to get him where he is. I won't agree to disagree on that.
