Waratahs v British & Irish Lions - Saturday, 5 July @ SFS

You'd have to consider bringing him into the squad (35) and then see how the other boys are tracking/fair. Hopefully competition pushes standards, so what's not to love.
It's already our most competitive position though. Not sure why you'd then go and drop someone form another position to rebalance the squad just to make it a bit more competitive outside the 23. Who are you dropping out of the squad for him?

I don't see M. Smith playing much of a part in the Wallabies games.
Oh definitely not at this stage. If he's lucky he'll get the 10 jersey against one of the invitational sides, but it looks like he's missed his chance to get a test jersey. Maybe a chance off the bench given he covers fullback.

I had a feeling that would go better than expected. All the pre game floggings we were going to get reminded me of the game earlier in the year when the brumbies basically declared victory before the game on their instagram.

Granted a lot of the lions errors kept us in the game, but we did force a lot of those and gave it one hell of a crack. Great atmosphere out there and was very entertaining, which really is the whole objective of a lions tour game.

Fair. Guess it depends how many they decide to carry. The numbers are all arbitrary anyway.

Pretty much sums up AU Rugby, an abundance of quality 7's :)

Gamble easily MOM tonight but you can’t make that call when McReight and Tizz haven’t played under the game conditions against that side.
I saw them this year play against lesser opposition and not be able to do what Gamble did tonight. No Super Rugby team has the quality and quantity of players the Lions have. If you want to build a club with those players, you simply can't afford it. The best Irish backrow leaves the fiels and the best English backrow replaces him. It's madness.

Yep. Farell coming in doesn't help either, even if the chat is that he's more a centers cover.

The other side of the coin is that he has already been selected for the First Nations/Pasifika side, so he does have an excellent opportunity to press his case further and keep that pressure up. But the others will get a right of reply between now and then too. That includes Reimer too, who before this game would've been well ahead of Gamble in the pecking order and should get his chance on Wednesday to wreck havoc.

Just coming home from the game now. Way to go Tahs! Just gave it to them. A big difference vs the Force/Reds games is that the Tahs really were able to slow down the Lions ball. Big collisions, pests at ruck etc. I was surrounded by lots of mouthy Lions fans who were looking very sour by the end. So good. Wallabies can roll these pricks.

Great performance in the end. If we had a bench we could have even pushed for the win but I dont think we won a lineout or scrum after the 60th minute?

I was expecting this kind of performance from the Reds tbh. Clearly of lesser ability but rise to the occasion and fight for everything. Most impressive for me was obviously Gamble but also liked what I saw from FLW (Fergus Lee-Warner), Amatosero and Lancaster. Teddy hot and cold and our 10s as garbage as ever (that we've gone through Edmed, Donaldson and Harrison to end up with Bowen is very stereotypical Tahs management).

Fuck yeah up the Tahs. Loving all the British moaning. They’re a miserable bunch. Lancaster showed Shute Shield must be good for something, cracking game. Thought Lambert was brilliant, didn’t realise he could play like that.

Is Earl the most insufferable player in world rugby? I think these Lions might be the most vulnerable to a bit of niggle, not very cool, calm and collected.

Lions 20 turnovers lost and Tahs 10 turnovers won is probably the story of the match, for a game that was a comfortable loss, but kind of felt a win for NSW

Tahs D did the job mostly, but 38 missed tackles and 80% success rate is a bit ugly. Kellaway a game high 6 misses (although he made 17 which is a mad number for an outside back)
