"Ireland's Aoife Wafer claimed she was bitten by France's Axelle Berthoumieu during the women's Rugby World Cup quarterfinal."

NZ's title defence in trouble: only one fit specialist midfielder, the other three dropping out in the space of about a week, so looks like one of the wingers (probably Portia) will have to move to 13, and now Jorja Miller has an undisclosed injury (probably a knee) that will keep her out of SF & likely next week as well. Was always a long shot but getting much harder now.

Went pretty much as I expected: the most-penalised team in the comp conceded a heap of penalties thereby gifting Canada territory & possession; the almost 7's-like wanting to fling the ball around regardless of field position & most of the backs roaming (Portia & young Braxton frequently shooting across to the opposite wing) left them vulnerable on the outside & the inevitable handling errors meant they were never able to dominate for any length of time.

Canada set pieces were mostly very good & they got the benefit of at least one dubious call (ball turned over by a player who had both knees on the ground) but they were just far too good on the day. Hoping they can knock the Poms over but not sure they're quite that good (yet).

Gee I reckon you are underplaying how well Canada played. They played so fast that the kiwis were blown off the park in the first 20 or so and then were able to hold on for the rest of the game.

Not at all @Red Runner, but BF were their own worst enemies by not responding to what Canada were doing until it was way too late e.g. in the second half Demant put in some very useful short/ cross-field kicks that forced Canada to start using a sweeper & NZ were able yo make some inroads: the longer kicks either went out which played into Canada's lineout strength, or to one of their back three who almost always beat the first tackler & set up the next attack.
