TRC Round 1: South Africa v Australia, Sunday 21 July 1:05am AEST

KOB1987

Rod McCall (65)
Korobiete and Maddocks both being sent home could provide an opening for Banks, considering the lack of pace and genuine outside backs in the squad.

You'd think worst case he will be #23 but I'd prefer to see him at #11 than Hodge.

I'm not a big fan of no wingers in the squad now. Hodge and DHP don't have the pace for the wing. I really want to see Banks start at 15 as he adds speed and a big boot to the backfield. Also need to see how he goes at this level well before the RWC. Beale is a known commodity and can come off the bench in the second half against tired forwards and do his thing.

Lilo's is a shoulder injury he got in super rugby and they're just giving him another week. Sio's is an abductor picked up in training and will also be right next week. Robertson rolled an ankle and will need a bit more time. Koroibete isn't injured, family reasons, something to do with the new bub you'd assume.

I really don't understand the Koroibete situation. Baby born earlier in the week, or on the weekend I think, gets on the plane a day later and is sent back "for family reasons" a couple of days later. IMO shouldn't have even been over there in the first place. Just hope there is nothing more to the early return.

Could be any number of reasons. Not too fussed.

Don't see why we don't have any other winger as back up though. No Pulu or Naivalu.

Hopefully everything is fine with Marika's new baby. It seems pretty unusual that he is flying back now after staying home for the birth and then flying over late. Ordinarily you'd expect him to stay and play as it's hard to imagine him not being the first choice 11.

Just a minor gripe. I'd really like all international teams to adopt a common format of naming their sides in the order 1-23. I mean look at that, they go 15-1, and then 16-23. Makes zero sense!

With you on that one, KOB. Been thinking of starting a 1to23 campaign for rugby worldwide.

If 15-1 then 16-23 makes zero sense, try the Scottish 15-9 then 1-8 followed by 16-23, neither up nor down. Crazy!

Missed a trick not having one of those two in the squad. They should have known the baby could have been born late etc.

So did Sio, Lilo and Robertson all get injured at camp? Probably calves from hill sprints again!
Have a feeling Lealiifano had a Shoulder injury from the end of super rugby, I have read that some Brumbies were to be rested based on them going further in the finals.. maybe it was the few who where carrying niggles.

Would have preferred to have seen Pulu, Naivalu or Speight in for MK. Should have had more specialist wingers in the squad instead of so many utility backs.

True, but at the RWC, this kind of shit will happen and we will have to "make do" with the squad

Utilities will be taken over specialists in the fringes of the squad
