TRC Round 2: Australia vs Argentina @ Brisbane - Saturday 27 July 2019

Jones had 15 minutes, can't judge on that. Also, penalty from him was unfortunate, looked dopey but a bit tough.

1. To'omua had a shocker. Huge step down once Lilo was off. A lot of it seemed to be communication issues. Makes me wonder how much bench variation gets a run at training because it looked like they’d never played together.
2. Defense was better but geez dunno how that’ll fare against other top tier nations.
3. Get Laurie in there to clean up the defensive and attacking ruck work. Sloppy and we’re missing opportunities. Will get smashed against better teams particularly NH and ABs.

Lineout and scrum were awesome. Genia, Rodda, Arnold, White, Nisirani and Koro locked themselves in for starting team if continuing to play like they did tonight. Hoping Samu gets back in as a bench back row cover because his form at end of super rugby was huge and provides coverage across 6, 7 and 8.
Defence was pretty damn good, so easy to say it won’t be good against the ABs but we’ll see whether it or no it is when we play them.

1. Great win... the guys should be congratulated, playing with more passion!

2. Kerevi is the attacking spark we needed now that Folau is gone - he is our best weapon.
3. Still not overly impressed with any of our 10's - I'd say Lilo shades Foley at this stage but would like to see more
4. Mick Bryne not having much success with our skills - so many poor passes leading to dropped balls

Also, well done on the kicking by CLL, might've been easy kicks, but he nailed them anyway.

Agreed. Good to see a solid goal kicker. He had a shocker of a first 10mins tho.
His work in defence and off the ball is pretty amazing, he works so hard.
But on attack his execution often off. Although I think he got better as the game went on - would have loved to see another 10mins.

To be fair, Argentina were pretty poor in attack - they had one strategy, spread it wide. Since we weren't committing to the rucks defence was a lot easier.

Although our scramble defence on broken play is be congratulated.

Times during that game we had a chance to score one more try and I reckon it really would have blown them open. LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) spilled it 5 out just before half time—could have gone into the break up 17-3. 16-3 with 15 and start pushing passes. Need to make the most of these against the top tier sides.

True but then you’ve got to give credit to Grey et al. for good planning and tactics to setup a system to neutralise that. When the Brumbies rushed up in the semi the Jaguares were putting kicks in behind and finding more space wide.

I dearly hope we put the idea of To'omua or Beale at 10 to bed. Neither of them can do it.

Tight 5 really stepped up this match. Also liked the aggression Latu, Naisarani and Tupou brought without going overboard.

Genia was MotM for me. Great performance.

I think a few subtle changes will really push this team on. Leave Lilo on for the match. I think Beale and MK have 11 and 15 locked up. I'd like to see Banks run on at 14 instead of Hodge. I would also take LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) as the back up lock and put someone else in at 6, preferably Samu.

Didn;t think we got to see enough of Jones or JOC (James O'Connor) to judge.

Surely thats the 9's sorted for world cup. Unlucky to Powell but both Genia and White up to the standards we want.
Genia kicked beautifully tonight - unfortunately this has not always been consistent, hope it continues as he offers a lot in attack too.

Not sure about Beale at 15 though. Still think he's better served as impact from the bench.

If it wasn't for Genia we wouldn't have won that, he created the spark. CLL was better than Foley but that's not hard, and To'omua confirmed once again he isn't a 10, why doesn't Chieka see that? Get QC (Quade Cooper) back, he would have made the difference especially off the bench.

Defence a bit better but the Argies wasted so many opportunities is not funny...

All in all another underwhelming performance...

Haven't looked at the stats, but probably 20 tackles, industrious runs, a couple pilfers and took the fucking points when on offer.

No, it was said he was playing a traditional 7 game. Expand the theme or drop the concept.

We could tell in the 1st 15 of the 1st half if players were switched on. In his time Jones was not.
