He was voted by 33% (second wasn't even close) of people on rugby.com.au as the Australian player of the week.. in his debut. How much better could he go?

14 carries (1st), 54 metres made (1st forwards), 6 beaten defenders (1st), made 6 tackles and of course turned the ball over 4 times (worst on ground) but they all came from off-loads I think?

He also scored the try to get us back in the game, and played the full 80.

Guess he went ok.

He looked good Cyclo. Good in the lineout and great in the loose. If he took some passing options a little better he would have been best on ground for mine.

He was very good, but he also tried to do too much -- to be expected for his debut; but he will need to be a little stronger through contact, and more patient with the ball, and a few times he wasn't quite on the right support lines a few times he was on a clean out line when he might have been better to be on an offload line, maybe he could up his pace a touch.

But he reminds me a lot of Higgers!

Yes, of course, players who can get their arms free in contact and throw passes is a terrible skillset. We should tell him to stop doing that. Good observation as always Fat one.

Totally, and to be fair I did highlight that. Cost us plenty of momentum. Ironically, moving forward I think it will be one of his strongest assets that separates him from other ho-hum backrowers.

They weren't really passes were they? You know, to someone. They were chuck it and hopes, that just isn't good enough

He has a lot to learn (and his team mates have to realise what he can do and get there), specifically to only pass it to someone in a better position than himself and if not take the tackle and set up that next phase

exactly, massive potential which we can all see.
Now the more challenging aspect is replicating that potential week in and week out for the entirety of the season, and rectifying those 50/50 passes.

Whilst it’s good fun to speculate, it’s really nothing more than that.

Wilson’s round 1 turnovers won’t count against him anymore than Sio’s scrumming performance will against him.

If he’s still doing them at the back end then there’ll be a problem. Hopefully he’s still making the offloads but hitting support runners.

Agreed, we have seen a load of new kids play who have potential, but like most Aus players, they all have shown "flaws" so far

Wilson definitely has talent. The problem is that he or the coaching staff have gone nowhere correcting these flaws which have been more than evident in club rugby in last couple of years. The propensity to throw the ball away in the same manner as against Brumbies last weekend has either directly or indirectly lost games for Brothers.

When the “Hail Mary” passes stick they are spectacular but the strike rate is far worse than even 50/50. During the trials it looked like this may have been minimised, so there is still hope that this was just exuberance in a debut game.

I don't think he'll be that strong running the ball. I think his closest analog is probably Higgers.
