League Targets

He’s a natural backrower but probably in that Gleeson/samu mould where not big enough for 6 or 8 and not speedy enough for a 7 - as an international that is. But, the way the game is going we could end up with a back row full of those

Yeah his size is probably the limiting factor for the backrow but he’s a hell of an athlete.

I’m sure the 7s program wouldn’t mind him try out for the Olympics.

Wouldn't be my top target and despite being a tahs fan think that Rugby Australia should try to spread the leaguies out.
I actually wouldn’t be surprised if the approach has come from him. I know for a fact that playing pro rugby was on his bucket list - not necessarily in Australia but it’s a bonus if it is and we can see what he has to offer.

It is a problem - we seem to be accruing a lot of these type of players in Aus rugby. I'm not sure they're the future. Anyway, if he pops up at the Tahs it will be interesting to see what they do with him.

Good point. He’s had a lot go on this year and maybe a change is what he wants.

True. But I’m all for Rugby getting the best talent it can and figuring it out at this stage. We’re not short of Wingers and we won’t find any tight 5 in League.

For reference, in his first 2 years in the Scots 1st XV he was #8. In his third year he was #13, and their goal kicker. In his 2 years in Aus schools they played him in the back row. He’s an exciting addition to any teams program considering his NRL/Origin experience, 4 years ago would have been better!

He'd have a better chance at adjusting to IC than backrow I would have thought. It'd take him several seasons to get up to speed in the backrow.
I wouldn’t dispute that either. Being from the south of the state and the Brumbies not having a standout solution at #12 I wouldn’t be surprised to see him sign for them. Although he has business interests in Sydney, and Tahs aren’t loaded with options at #12 either.

Based on his issues off the field this year, I think he would be best to get out of the Sydney bubble if he’s coming to rugby.

But again, he’s another leaguie who’s contracted until 2024. Crichton a bit different to Suaalli as well considering he will be 29 by the time he joins RA and has already been dealing with a few injuries and other issues.

I would pass on him.

If he signs I’d say the roosters would be happy to let him go and free up some cash. As you say, a bit different to Sua'ali'i.
