Was a good game, GPS vs CHS on Friday at Curagal, will be a good game to see the Backrow of Wells, Walters, Miller as they all had outstanding games last night

Any thoughts on the upcoming game on friday? Any changes?

Think the teams remain the same I think apart from Baldwin listed back in the 1's, so might not see that backrow Tigerfan. If Baldwin plays it will be tough to come back from injury straight into this level heads up against Broome. Best of luck to him!

Hopefully he can do what Wells did last year and snag a spot at a higher level without playing in the 1's

It happens all the time. Have a look at the NSW IIs team last year. Wells wasn't the only one to get into the Oz team.

Yes he did, but against very ordinary opposition. Dombkins is proven at the higher level already and Miller had an effective game against far better opposition in the I's on tuesday. Calcagno (CHS) is also superior at this stage and Dempsey, while definately capable, may have to wait until next year.

Is Dempsey only year 11? Wow, that kid will be something next year...

Knowing of the Dempsey boys thru their dads, his cousin is also a no. 6 in the 16As and will no doubt be in the 1sts next year with him...nice headache for the coach...their dads also played in View 1sts for at least two years in the late 70s and early 80's...the 70's version was, and still is, a very big unit and both played in the back row as well.

I was suprised Tom Dempsey didnt get a spot in the GPS 16's side, hes one of the bigger backrowers in the 16's comp

I agree , Joeys backrow were totally missing, team did not show any of the ticker that Joeys is renowned for. Only exception was Kovacic who totally deserves his GPS selection.
Worst performance by Joeys open teams in memory. Coaches need to have a good look at themselves to see where they have gone wrong. Time for CHANGE!!!!!!

Totally agree. We have old style coaches who believe that "whoever wants it more will win" and pick selections based on rowing crews followed by attitude. While this can be good in some aspects, other times it ridiculous. Case in point James Goldie. Captain of Gordon Under 16's team 2010 (State Champions), Captain of Sydney Team (National Champions) and one of the hardest workers in the GPS, has a great attitude. However, he was told that "he would never make the 1sts" because he switched sports from rowing. So now he's stuck at hooker for the 2nds (WTF!). Pennisi is fairly ordinary in my opinion, and when he came off injured and Goldie came on, Goldie showed why he should be up there in NSW schoolboys at least. Absolute workhorse, cannot heap enough praise on this guy
When we had new coaches last year for the Seconds, lo and behold, Undefeated Premiers. It's time for change!

The days of putting the bulk of your first XV forward pack in the middle of your first eight went out years ago. Noticed also that Joeys last won the Head of the River in the first eights in 1973 so they are definitely looking in the wrong place athlete wise.

Thank you! Goldie is one of the best 7s in GPS and playing 2nds hooker? if he was in the side against View or Scots i dont think the 7s that got to Deegan would of been able to get away with it

If young Goldie is indeed playing 2 in 2nds, whoever runs the programme at Joeys needs horsewhipping. He's been an inspirational player and leader for a few years
