Don't discount Kinross. Had a good 1st & 2nds last year, their No 10 is back who played very mature rugby last year as a year10. They ambushed Oakhill at Orange last year and was very competitive against Auggies for 40 mins.

Oakhill had a pretty rusty first up hit out against Aloys on Friday afternoon. One try apiece for the "probable"1st XV trialists in the second half of a match where Oakhill dominated the first half "possibles" encounter. The Aloys "probables" forwards outplayed Oakhill at both the set piece and breakdown. Oaks took their time to work into the match but started to get some cohesion towards the end with their outside backs finding some space once they saw a bit of ball.

Where are the other ISA school programs up to?

Pius play there first trial match this saturday against Barker, will be interesting to see how they go and what team they put out there

Who stood out for Oakhill and Aloys from last years First XV and the new triallists... also ALoys.. any outstandig form there... I am led to beleive that the first half lacked power and the second half Oakhill bought on the stronger players.

Both schools effectively had their 2nd XVs on the park in the first half then brought on their 1st XV teams in the second half. I used the terms probables and possibles above as at this early stage of the season there are obviously quite a few positions yet to be decided. There was a huge gap in quality of the 2 Aloys sides which indicates they may struggle for depth. Don't know the Aloys lads but their #10 looked like a class act - nice runner of the ball, decent pass and some good options.

Re Oakhill, Blacklock at prop played very well - looks like he's worked hard in the off season. He was in the twos last year and started in the seconds team on Friday but came off reasonably early and then got a good run in the firsts and made the most of his opportunity. Goddard looked very strong (played at lock & #8) and will be a handful in attack this year. The backs didn't get to see too much ball but Cotton at fullback had a couple of good runs and put a good hit on the Aloys outside centre - although he does need to do a better job of passing the ball and releasing unmarked players.

Often that is the case with Aloys...poor depth. They will always have a handful of good players, but will struggle with depth. Though their lower sides will still be quite willing.

Oakhill would have greater depth than Aloys I think.

Does anybody know how Chev did against Marist Canberra on the weekend of the 24/3/12? It was played at Bowral I think.

ISA Round 1 will be held on Saturday 26 May 2012.

Most teams ISA teams have commenced, or are about to commence trials, some of which are treated with the same importance as an official round of the ISA competition.

Marist Beat Chev 22 - 0.. Not a bad result for Chev given then are in Div 2 now and no where near as strong as they were in the mid 90s/early 2000's before boarding ceased.

The only thing I can think of however is that Marist didnt send their full strength line up.

Oakhill defeated Barker 12-10 in the heat yesterday. A tight game played in the forwards for most part. Barker set plays dominant but could not get thought the back line defend at all. For Oakhill, I thought Tuckwell, Goddard, Gonzalez and Woodward were good. Some elementary errors to be ironed out but overall a promising performance.

Did anybody have a look at Stannies v Barker today at Barker? After Oakhill beat Barker on Sat, interested to hear the result of today's game as a bit of a measuring stick - albeit still early days.

Crofty, according to Barker website, Barker 38 Stannies 19. Barker led 15-14 at halftime.
