Strong inclusion from Endeavour SHS this year. Thought a couple more from Westfields and Hills would of been included watching the trials. Who is the coach this year for CHS.?

Paul Ridgeway he was a coach with 1st grade Shamrocks last year with Paul Schoupp who is NSW Country Juniors U14s coach. Dont know much about them just happen to meet a guy on site who plays 1st grade for Shamrocks. How does NSW CHS usually go against the GPS and CAS teams in the past. Is NSWCHS usually a strong team?

I know Paul Ridgway very well, he's a first class coach, he'll work very well with Paul Kipp, both will handle 16 year old boys well (keep them focussed). I think this U16 team is in with a good chance.

Names to watch Tommy Sawden, Raui Poaru and Ben Horton all from the Illawarra team all very good players with a good future (only question is in league or union??), and Lapana Vitale from the Central Coast.

Does anyone know if Jackson Hastings tried out for CHS U16?

It's interesting that the coach is from the Illawarra, probably explains the heavy Shire representation (and perhaps the lack of very talented and experienced 'Dual Codies' from western Sydney).

Yes I have seen this Raui Poaru play in rugby league very good player, there was also another Illawarra player at the second trial I noticed was a Matthias Tutunoa who also plays league I have seen him play at Westfields as a flanker in the Buchan shield a very good player also.

Being an ex Westfields in the 90s I hope they have a strong opens to compete in the Waratah Shield?

There is 2 more from Illawarra a Telenoti and a Reece Hewatt who also made NSW Country 15s dont know much about them but they must producing some good talent down in the Illawarra, oh I heard they also play league and with rep honours.

I hope they stay with Rugby!!!!!

The Coach is Andrew Fitzgerald. He is a grade Coach at Norths. Ridgway is the CHS Convenor and has coached NSW Schools in the past. He has nothing to do with Endeavour and was not a CHS selector this year.
There is a heavy representation from Sydney East and North Coast this year because they were 2 of the better teams.

To claim some sort of conspiracy in selections when you obviously know so little is fascile.

Mr Bump,

When I posted my comments I was going off another post in this thread that made reference to Ridgway being the coach! I take people on face value in this site and subscribe to the view that fellow posters would not deliberately post information that is not true! Nevertheless there are always those who infringe upon the truth but they are usually and swiftly dealt with by the likes of Lee and Co.

Consequently I put forward my suggestion as to why it explained the heavy representation of Southern zone players and the non-selection of some very talented western Sydney lads; lads who have the runs on the board when it comes to representative experience and honours! Posts in this site often get misconstrued and that is why I used the the word 'PROBABLY', as the same connotes that it is still open for debate.

The history of rugby selection is indicative of regional/team bias and happens at all levels of rugby. The two best international examples i can put forward in my time are Bob Dwyer (with his selection of a Randwick players when he came to power) and the ex-All Black coach Laurie Mains (with his selection of Otago players). Both of these coaches plucked players from relative obscurity from their team/region of origin when they took over their respective mantles of national head coach, and it continues today. I personally believed it occurred with the high number of Trinity lads in last year's U/16 SJRU team when the coach was a Trinity teacher. But that's life!

Perhaps you should give others the benefit of the doubt and ask them to elaborate on their position if you dont fully understand the same. There is no place for personal attacks in this site mate!

On a final note there is more to this topic than you realise, as this subject has been discussed in other threads. Maybe you might want to read the other related threads that will give you a better understanding of why I said what I said!

Fair enough..... No personal insult intended.

On another note. CHS 1sts forward pack looks good. All of the city based boys have 1st or 2nds Colts experience.

It is what it is

The Australian Coach most guilty of picking 'his boys' was Alan Jones from Manly, and many were very ordinary too. Look up the names and you'll wince.
On another note I heard that the CHS Final was between 2 Country teams for the first time in a while.....if so, well done to the players/coaches and all involved.

Will there be any of the CHS boys on show at the NSW State champs over the long weekend playing for their respective club district?

The CHS Final was played in Dubbo last Friday between North Coast and North West with North Coast the victor. First time a country team has won the carnival in 35 years. From all reports some great rugby played by North Coast with a few outstanding players.
