Tomane was a solid 6 on the G&GR scale, Cummins was a good 7/8 though, agreed. I prefer Tomane on defence however, watch only him for a game and see how quickly and effectively he repositions when the game changes.

Against the BIL, Tomane was poor in defence, and was the chief culprit for a number of the BIL tries.
If I was an AB strategist, I'd be drooling for him to be picked for the Wallabies.

For me, JOC (James O'Connor) is going through his tough period and would be coming back down to earth big time.
I would think that Link will be saying to him that as the new coach, everything is equal, so if you put your heart & soul into training, and show your enthusiasm for the gold jersey, the wing position is yours.
Same as with Beale for the bench. He is a good impact player in the second half.

Lets see JOC (James O'Connor) carving up for West Harbour and Beale tearing for Randwick, doing the park training and showing how their attitude is before they come into consideration

But I won't discount the opportunity of use two units as talented as them if they show the right attitude

Any word on the Assistants that Link will have?

Has Totality Tony already moved on from ARU to Rebels? That would free up a slot for Link to recruit his own fellow into.

If you were Link what would be the breakdown of your assistants?
Forwards Coach
Lineout consultant
Scrum consultant
Backs Coach
S&C
Kicking Coach (part timer borrowed from ARU HPU - new position to be established to increase the overall kicking skill levels across the board - [place, drop and from hand])
Game Analyst
Life Skills Advisor (part time contractor)
Media Manager (intern borrowed from the pool of interns at HQ ARU)
Regimental Sergeant Major (borrowed from Aust Army - I'm sure that Cossie could arrange that at no cost to ARU)
Manager (these blokes/ladies need to be able to turn their hand to assisting at training)
Assistant Manager (one of Manager/assistant manager should be a female)

Maybe that needs to be a full-time role.

The Life Skills Advisor would work in conjunction with the Regimental Sergeant Major, who will be a no nonsense grumpy old ex SAS trooper.

No more sleeping in or missing buses. The team will be on time, and dressed appropriately. They will have their long studs and mouthguards, as well as their look at me boots. Hotel rooms will be left tidy, and fans will be treated with respect.

Pretty simple:

Forwards coach (scrums, lineouts, restarts, breakdown)
Backs coach (passing, kicking, patterns of play)
Defence coach (tackling, patterns of play)
Strength and Conditioning coach (self explanatory)

I think there are too many "cooks" in modern sporting teams and an awful lot of made up jobs. For mine it's important to keep the strategy simple and have a small number of authoritative voices in the coaching group.

That's the head coaches job. That culture starts from the top for mine.

I like keeping it simple and multi tasking, but I'd still like to see some part timers for Lineouts, Scrums and Kicking. There are significant skills shortages in the latter two in Aust Rugby.

Yeah, absolutely. Nothing wrong with bringing in consultants for specific areas, plenty of organisations do that. I just like having a core group of people who have the responsibility and authority to look after key areas and delivering that consistent message.

Yes, I don't disagree that it has affected QC (Quade Cooper) - just that he will need to harden up and play through it. I think he briefly enjoyed the notoriety of being Public Enemy #1 in NZ prior to the RWC, before being rattled by the depth of ill-feeling towards him at the games and showing vulnerability. There's not many players who can play up that kind of reputation and actually thrive on it.

Austin Healy :)

I really don't want to work today, so ... .. . how about a team with some form, attacking threat and athletic forwards.

1. Robinson
2. Moore
3. Slipper
4. Horwill
5. Pyle
6. MMM
7. Hooper
8. Mowen
9. Genia
10. To'omua
11. Cummins
12. Goodwin
13. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
14. Mogg
15. Folau

16 TPN
17 Kepu
18 Sio
19 Neville
20 Gill
21 White
22 Kuridrani
23 Beale

Goodwins is good but why drop Leo ? ..

Hit him front on with good technique and took him to ground. Then went low and with Shatz? brought him to ground with contact to complete the tackle. I think in any definition that is a tackle. This isn't a one off this year, especially in the last few week. Most importantly for me is that in each of the examples I have seen he has displayed good technique.

LOL all you want, though maybe you just prefer to boo as well?

Of extra note in the attached clip, after completing said tackle on Ranger he works extremely hard to get back into position to receive the attacking kick from the Blues and counter. That shows attitude and commitment. Again I have to say, what more can one ask?

You know he has got better at tackling but worse at taking it to the line.. the knee seems to have affected him..

But I really like the intent, not the technique, not worried about that at all before i use to feel he didnt put his heart in tackling.. now he does.. doesnt matter technique or result. But 2011/12 Quade would never have tried to put ranger on his arse.. Now he tried and did.. Thats all we want.. same with running take it in a tackle..

To'omua does this all really well he will smash a prop (anyone) in a tackle with no after thought.. he will run at the line etc no second thought.. His not as skillful as Qaude, but his more willing.. But Qaudes changing that..

Apparently he's trying to convince France that they don't need him so he can stay.

No Horwill or Genia = Big selection headache for captain, lock and scrum half.

You'd have to think it would be Moore or Mowen for captain, maybe Nic White or Cooper as a dark horse.
Starting locks will probably be Simmons and Douglas, but who will be on the bench? Fardy, Pyle?
I'm leaning towards Phipps as starting scrum half, but White would be good too.

Mowen would be Captain wouldnt he.. I know his new but he seems like the perfect Captain Jake White seen it, we are seeing it.. Even Hoarn and Kaff said during the Lions if Horwills out he should be..

Captain sits well with Mowen and he plays better ( Much Better) with it on his shirt..

Mogg 15, he should be the wallabies full back and falou 14.

Falou is not a full back, he has played there but its a specialist position and mogg is far better and has better awareness of the position.

I'm postitive that cooper will be back in the squad and he will want falou on the wing for his quick seed or his pin point kick passing. And I'm sure falou can't wait to get that ball from cooper and get some meat pies through this up and coming wallabies tour.

Haven't been this excited for the a wallabies tour in bloody years. Time to get my wallabies kit out of the vacuum sealed bag washed and cleaned ready for rum spills of excitement not frustration.

Woooooo whooooooooooo.

I don't think Neville is ready for test rugby yet. I think he has too many quiet games at Super Rugby level at the moment. I'd pick MMM, Dennis, Kimlin, Jones or Fardy at 6 before him. When Higgers is fit, he'd be above all those players too.

I also don't think Quirk is quite there yet. I think he is excellent when the game is a bit of a scrap but he struggles when it becomes more physical.

The area the Wallabies seem to struggle with most is having a strong, decisive clean out consistently. Somone like Scott Fardy could really make an impact in this area. We need more forwards who excel in this area. Our pilferers are great when the game goes that way but we tend to get blown away when referees don't allow much competition for the ball at the break down and turnovers are won purely on a fast and strong clean out.

I maybe just a fan boy but Scott Fardy has Wallaby written all over him. Ive watched alot of brumbies games (all) and his breakdown work and motor is in front of Kilmin Carter Auela and Mowen.. Mowens better beause of his leadership but the Brumbies form slump started when Fardy got injured..
