Great to start the season off with some Sunday Arvo rugby in the sun! No better way to watch the rugby IMO.
It was an interesting game though, the Tahs looked good in attack apart from some first round sloppiness. Foley led the team around well and combined pretty well with Beale. That combination will only get better as well. Folau was very impressive, his support play was fantastic, similar to Billy Slater almost in league, he always seemed to be popping up in the right place which is a very promising sign. I also noticed him chime in at first reciever a couple of times which was interesting to see, put the defense in two minds and opened a bit of a gap outwide.
The forwards did the job required of them, I thought Potgeiter was very impressive when he came on as well, added some aggression to the pack. Douglas was very good as well I thought, seemed to get through a lot of work. Skelton had some good moments and did well in the lead up to the first try, but he still has plenty of work to do to become a regular starter. Robinson dropped a fair bit of ball and I thought he had a pretty average game, TPN had a couple of good runs. I was very impressed with Paddy Ryan though, thought he made some good runs and worked a fair bit. I couldn't really tell what was happening in most of the scrums so I will have to watch the game back again.
The Tahs will need to work on their defensive structures though they seemed to be split open too often by a very poor force team. Against the Reds that will spell trouble. That will need to improve for next week, as will the sloppiness, and the accuracy at rucks.
But it was a good game to start the season off with, nice to see plenty of tries and sit out in the sun.
