I was in two minds about responding to that post.

I was prepared to give you a second chance because I had been informed that you are a decent guy, but you have blown it.

Actions have consequences.. Think about that.

A week of heavy rain in Sydney and my home internet struggles.

What an age of technology we live in.

Luckily the copper network is fine and will last forever.

I thought that was unnecessary for anyone except Runner who believes that any internet is good internet as long as the Coalition thinks so.

Just wondering if any of the folk up to date with the NBN 'stuff' can give me even a slightly educated opinion on what is happening near my town?

The last week as I drive to work along the highway I have been watching a couple of teams of guys installing a quite thick light blue cable into the existing telco pits that are dotted along the side of the highway. At the moment they are very near to the next town along the highway to mine (if it's not obvious, I live in a rural area). I have made an assumption that they are laying fibre and was hoping that contrary to the NBN website, I may be getting the NBN still? Would there be another reason they would be laying fibre cable? My town is about another 5km down the road form the town they are approaching at the moment.

Also, if it's not obvious, I know very little about this stuff. I think before the current govt got in we were on the NBN rollout map as 'future planned' or something like that. Sorry if this makes no sense.

AFAIK NBNCo optical cable is light green.

If you don't have FTTP by the end of the year, then you may get FTTN (which relies on copper cable), or fixed wireless, or satellite broadband.

Hang on here. We will all pay for it and not all will use it. To use it you will have to pay heaps. Poor econmics.

Up to a point.
The NBN was to be gold plated and we don't need that for evey infrastructure project. No need for a Porsche when a Commodre will do.
