Walsh said to Horwill its the 3rd time his talked about holding and if he sent Moore he'd send Quirk and that he wanted 15 v 15 on the pitch so let's get on with it

And here is the crux of the problem - refs are under pressure to ensure even contests, even when both teams are trying to deliberately avoid it. The only way to get players to stop fucking about - particularly professional players - is to start laying down the Law.

Jersey pulling is a professional foul. Yellow card.

Punching someone is foul play. Red card.

Even the backs among you are surely smart enough to understand that? Even the scrum halves?

Scrum halves might be a stretch. Pretty sure a few saying it was ok to punch are/were scrummies. Ugh.

Annoying thing is we can't complain about Welsh anymore
I love how the Brumbies fans were saying in the lead up that the game was as good as lost with Walsh at the helm.
Now that the reds lost and the fans are dirty with a clearly dud decision (just the non carding of Moore) we're getting ragged on for bagging the ref. ;-)

Fellow Reds fans, do me a solid and shut the fuck up. You're making us sound like a whinging pack of fluffybunnys. No harsh calls lost us the game, our shit breakdown work and lack of outside running options did. Since Walsh is responsible for neither of them , there's no use blaming him.

I seriously don't know if many/any Reds fans are saying that botched calls cost us the game. Most of us are just pissed that Moore didn't get carded. I don't see a problem with that.

To me, the Reds lost it in the last 10 by deciding they can win the ball by kicking it, even when in the Brumbies half.

If you want to add in the rest, poor breakdown work and disorganisation from the backs on attack, particularly the outside backs.

But binning Moore and letting Quirk off also sets a shitty precedent.

Why?

Big difference between foul play and cynical play. The cynical stuff happens at every ruck but we are meant to turn a blind eye to punching.

I agree he didn't lose us the game, but he should have done his job and sent the traitor off.

By the way I sit in the corner where fox do their interview. Moore came over to do one but the crowd kept giving it too him so much that after waiting for around 5 minutes they told him not to bother and he just walked away (to the crowd yelling 'off off off').

I think you have every right to be annoyed with the non yellow card and won't rag on anyone bagging the ref for that reason. It the roles were reversed and it was one of the Brumbies players on the receiving end of the punch I'm pretty sure we'd all be doing the same thing.

The ones that are annoying me are the ones saying he should have just awarded the try anyway, and that the disallowed try is the reason the Reds lost. I know it isn't all Reds fans saying this. But there have been some very vocal ones claiming that the try should have been awarded, and simply won't accept the reasoning for it not being so.

I will admit, I was shattered when I heard Walsh had this game. But thought that all things considered he didn't do too bad a job (obvious errors aside). I was actually impressed with the way he communicated to the players. In the past he has just blown his whistle and told the players to go away, refusing to speak to them if they questioned something.

Its a good thing both teams have a bye this week (although that screws my Fantasy team!) because they both need about a week to work on ball retention alone! Terrible handling cost both teams but I think it effected the Reds scoreline more than the Brumbies.

I'm certainly glad he didn't in hindsight. The resultant pushover scrum where Quade's shot at goal was about 15m further from the sideline would have potentially seen us only take 5 points away if the try was awarded rather than the 7 we did.

I also thought Walsh was good. Only criticisms were he made a couple of bold calls where I doubt he actually saw (e.g. Quade's non try) instead of using technology but they were right so no effect anyway, and his comment that either both get a yellow or none do. There should not have been equal punishment but I don't have a massive problem with no bin as it would have been a penalty if we were not playing advantage anyway.

As a generalization, Reds' fans take the prize for being the most whining in Aus. There are some notable exceptions, @TWAS and @Ash - maybe more but by and large the indignation that comes through in many posts is just very hard to take. It's a game. Get over it.

Be careful with generalisations. I think most fans from most franchises are fair, but passionate, and we all have our moments of angst.

I like your evenhanded ness @cyclopath, but I invite everyone to have a look at the comments on the Force/Tahs thread by Tahs fans to see what being a good loser means. Very different to the majority of Reds' fans comments here.

@Brumby Runner - luckily for me, I get to look at all these threads in some detail. ;)
A few vocal posters from any fan-group can make a lot of bad noise, I think most are pretty fair.
