Thats the Heaslip/Pape incident. Nah theres no way to excuse that as accidental. Its 100% on purpose. It wasn't meant to obviously cause major damage and just to get Heaslip out of there, but either way that is with purpose and is reckless - and thats a straight red.

Maybe I'm reading into it too much but Barnes looked odd giving the player a yellow. He looked unsure himself and didn't really look at the guy either. Usually Barnes seems to love the dishing out of a card. Either way this is a ref who sent Hartley off three years ago with a straight red in the Premiership final for swearing at him. He bottled a few decisions in this game, but hell every ref has a bad day and he's generally a top ref for me.

Fair call, as I said I was a few pints in at the time. Can't lead with your knee like that. I personally don't like Mr Barnes as a ref, too inconsistent.
Thought he had a brutal game yesterday, wasn't making the tacklers release before they contested and not policing offside contributed to the siege like feel of the game.

I agree with yesterday feeling like a siege, I just find it frustrating watching this current French side. Hey had talent and just don't seem able to use it.

As for this Scotland vs Wales game, quite excited. Wales don't seem to be playing well this season where as Scotland are clearly on the up. Especially at Murrayfield I am hoping for a good, close game.

Meh start. Looked like Wales have been on top, starting to get the defences working.

Dunbar down again. Scott on the bench so not so bad, but still really annoying.

Starting to threaten, little knock on at base of the risk.

The Welsh attack is far too predictable. They might have had more ball than Scotland, but Scotland have at least tried to do something with it.

Yellow card for JD (Welsh centre) for the exact same offence. Though it does look like he at least tried to compete for the ball

It's a pretty exciting game so far. Scotland should hit back early in the second half then it's all about who finishes stronger.

Early thoughts before bed.

Same problems as last week. Strong Scrum, Strong Lineout, good maul, good defence.

Problems? Sheer amount of time spent defending will mean the opposition will always find gaps and opportunities. Squandering our own doesn't help either. Final thing that really hurts is that with injuries and lack of depth comes meagre impact from the bench, so we can't turn a game from an arm wrestle to a victory.

Odd officiating too. Not saying it was biased one way or the other, just somewhat, peculiar at times.

Final score Scotland 23 - Wales 26

Should have been time for a kick off at the end I am sure. 4 seconds left on the clock when the conversion is successful.

Wales just strangled that game in the second half really, basically what England did to them last week. Promising signs from Scotland still, but they need to be more clinical near the try line.

If Scotland could have reached touch with more of those kicks this could have been a very different game. They literally must have missed at least 6-8 of them between Hogg and Russell... just unacceptable.

Wasn't convinced that the "forward pass/knock on" call on Hidalgo-Clyne was accurate, but I need to rewatch the slo-mo.

Strange game, Scotland could and maybe should have done better. They wasted chances even though Wales were on top territorally & possession wise.
Going forward for Wales, we have to shore up our set piece - Jarvis & Andrews are shite tighthead's. Gats needs to call Adam Jones and do some groveling !

Do you think he will? Really can't see it myself. Gatland is on the road to no where. Kevin Bowring and Mike Ruddock have both done brilliant jobs for England and Ireland respectively. Lancaster is KB (Kurtley Beale)'s protege. I know for a fact how appallingly the two men were treated by the WRU, including, in Ruddock's case, the non selection of his son. Wales' loss is Ireland's gain, Rhys Ruddock wanted to represent the land of his father but after he was not selected because of his father he chose to represent the land of his mother.

No, not in a million years. Gatland will never admit he's made a mistake.
As for your other points I totally agree the hierarchy at WRU are megalomaniac's & have been for years. Bowring was treated awfully as national coach after doing a good job in difficult circumstances whereas Ruddock actually won a grand slam & was still treated like garbage.
We could do with Rhys Ruddock now - he'd be far more dynamic at 6 than Lydiate. Ironically for him he'd have far more opportunities with Wales these days than Ireland as you have much more backrow depth than us. But good on him for making the most of his time in green. Sadly for Wales another who could take that spot in the national side is fully ensconced in the English set up - Ross Moriarty, even though dad Paul & uncle Richard are both former Welsh back-rowers of note.
Considering how shallow a pool of talent Wales has we don't half let some talent slip away.
