Per GPS Rugby News on facebook:

The St.George Queensland Reds have signed four of GPS Rugby's latest superstars to help rebuild the franchise in 2016.

Flyhalf Sam Greene won a landmark Premiership at Brisbane Grammar School in 2012, and has shone for Wests and Brothers in Premier Rugby in the years since.

Prop Pettowa Paraka was a destructive force of nature for The Southport School in 2011, and has gone on to represent Queensland and Easts.

Hooker Alex Mafi represented Nudgee's First XV between 2012 and 2014, and now represents Bond University at only 18-years-old.

Lock Izack Rodda moved north from his childhood home in New South Wales to board at Ipswich Grammar School in 2013-2014, where he represented the Queensland and Australian Schoolboys.

I sure hope there is less pressure put on the young boys playing in the 12's, 13's & 14's than what is shown in the GAGR forum. I'm sure at that age the boys are just out there enjoying the participation. All the talk of the impact of importing and recruiting seems a little early at that age?

I agree that there hasn't been enough First XV input on here lately and honestly I just skip over most of the U/12/13/14 posts. I was out at Northgate on the weekend to watch a bloody nerve-wracking game between GT and BGS. BGS seem to know what they're doing out there, but in my opinion are just lacking the raw talent. Ive heard the coach has them playing "mind games" by warming up right next to the opposition. Full credit to the GT team who was led well by Pat Carrigan. Will Eadie was a nightmare for grammar on the wing as well and would be surprised not to seem him in a rep jersey next year. Side note: The seconds game was an absolute nailbiter at 0-0 with 5 minutes to go. Grammar took a penalty 20m out in front to take the lead 3-0. Terrace was granted a penalty close to the end, might have been on the buzzer, in the same position but opted to run it. Ended up scoring to win the game, thats school pride for ya.
P.S. Don't worry BBC, theres very little difference between a 96 and a 97 year losing streak

There will be some cracker games this year, always good to watch the 16A's, 2nd's and 1st. RB what are your thoughts on the coming weekend game between GT - TSS. Will GT conquer the TSS backs or will the game rest with the forward pack?

Tip with your head, not with your heart. The smart money is on TSS but Tennyson is a special place. Thats all I'll say.

@ The King

I was waiting for Alex Mafi's name to surface in Senior Ranks ( officially )

Helluva player and easily one of 5 I have seen playing GPS Rugby in the last 3 or 4 years to have genuine impact on the next level

Hey I got an idea !

Let's sling some more shit at posters that dare discuss Rugby at a certain age level just because we're grumpy and feel like cracking the sooks because things aren't that vibrant in discussion whereby we can't get through a page turn in 2 or 3 days with First XV only Rugby !

And at the same time ............let's overlay a suggestion that posters that do are crazed nutters who are killing the enjoyment for boys that play in this age group .

From what I can tell :

1. This is generally a pretty chilled site /forum

2. This is the GPS Rugby Forum - not the First XV only or Senior School only Forum

3. A GPS Rugby journey is trending more toward a 4 to 5 year experience even for those on Scholarship . As such , as ( I think ) BAG aptly referenced earlier in this thread ........pecking orders and rivalries are being forged at 12 and 13 . If managed well - there is nothing wrong with this . It might also be terrific.

Rugby is , after all , a competitive sport and at the first stage of pathway development also comes recruitment .

We can pretend that 12, 13 and 14 year old boys will remain in their overprotective , micromanaged parent's inauthentic bubble and where its about everyone gets a go and everyone gets a prize etc ....or we can pull our head out of ass and consider the high level of motivation for boys playing A level Rugby at this level to compete against each other and develop positive meaning and purpose behind this

I can assure you that a high number of these boys look up to their First XV heroes current and most importantly past , and understand the feeder system of what is GPS Rugby into the highest levels in the game , but just as importantly , into other levels in the game that keep the game strong . And I'm talking about Colts and Prems.

So guys ....sorry if the specific content isn't as you'd like it........or if your view of GPS Schooling and Sports in the issues of purity and possession or the future flag bearers don't look like you in your memories

Instead of making posts that add no value or dredging up something just to make an issue out of something that really isn't just because you are bored or have shit on your liver.....try and post something positive or better yet try and engender some discussion around what you want to discuss that may address your lack of fulfilment .

If this doesn't work buy a triangle , cross your legs and burn some incense:cool:

What is the name ofthe BBC number 15? Watched this guy on the weekend and was extremely impressed! His try that was disallowed but i am certain it came off his leg! TGS will have a hard time against him this weekend.
Who else is there to look out for in the BBC lineup?

Alan Cameron (40)
Yeah I'm with The King and then some

TSS with a ritualistic killing on the weekend .

Everyone talks about Dylan Riley and rightfully so , however , Emry Pere at No 8 for TSS might be one of the most under rated guys in the GPS comp.

I thought he was outstanding last Saturday.

@ TB

BBC 15 is Jayden Ngamanu - Australian Schools Fullback

Len Ikitau ( 13 ) is due

I'd like to see Verevis back at wing which would bring Vaughey back to 9

Cal Hope is a loss at lock and our Tight 5 will be in a battle Royale with the TGS Tight 5

100% agree no students name has been used and we have hardly even spoken about a specific position or individual all I have seen here is people refer to some new players that may or may strengthen a particular team - the quality of those teams and how much we enjoy watching them play.

Believe me the boys at BBC and GT (or IGS) in the u14 and GT and NC in the under 15 and for that matter IGS and BSHS in the U13 do not need me or any other person to put a ring around the fixture on the calendar.

If TSS are serious contenders they should be expecting to put 30-40 on GT on the weekend IMO.

The BGS First XV have a bit of a theme going in terms of players injured for the entire season:
2011: Birch and Aiono
2012: Saunders
2013: Morrey
2014: Lanskey
2015: Wolstenholme
Devastating news for the LDB after Wolstenholme injured his leg in the first half against GT. Out for 9 to 12 months.

Attention tippers:

Round Three's fixtures have been updated - Churchie and Ipswich accidentally had their bye rounds switched.

You'll need to resubmit your tips for this round.

.."however , Emry Pere at No 8 for TSS might be one of the most under rated guys in the GPS comp".... Garry Owens.

I think Pere performances have been solid without being the most underrated player. You've rated him, and a number of posts before (Qld selection trials) were up in arms that he was not given a go in the trials.

Facts are there are a number of underrated players out there....a number of whom I think are the equalled to Pere if not better....namely Jack Ireland NC #1, Campbell TSS #10, Pat Corrigan GT #5 and Vary TGS #11. The latter Vary was very unlucky not to gain higher honours last month IMO.

This week we see my top 4 teams (NC, TSS, BBC & Churchie) against the ones I think won't be. We can also be able to gain a bit more of a gauge about past results. So the scores will be interesting.

That's so tongue n cheek! I think 15-20 points will probably stop it up. Let's see if GT can take advantage of the several lapses shown thus far by TSS. I will give you that if there was any team or place for a potential upset it's Tennyson (not that I think this will happen).

Gregory Terrace Vs The Southport School
It’s the Micks vs the Milfs at Tennyson Stadium this week. The Terrace Old Boys are trying to recoup their investment in the grandstand, so they have sold the F&B rights to Spotless Catering and this Saturday a hot dog will cost $53 and a bottled water $7. How cool just like Suncorp Stadium!
TSS will have the ref from last week’s game vs BBC with them. He’s been on the coast all week on an all expenses paid bender with Greg Bird, Karmichael Hunt and most of The Suns.
So with a 30 to 1 penalty count in their favor, TSS will grind the Terrace boys into the ground and send them packing to the bottom echelons of the table.

Toowoomba Grammar School Vs Brisbane Boys College
The Westside Lexus Car Club go for a burl up the range to see if the disappointment from last week has worn off.
After a couple of dodgy decisions last week the green and black lads are feeling harder-done-by than Robert Allenby’s caddy. BBC get a couple back, but are resting a couple as well. T-ba are down a couple too, but as always will be rolling out the welcome mat. And whilst they might be smiling as they hand you the best burger in the GPS, you better hope that you have eaten it before they trip you into a cow pat near Old Boys Oval.
This is going to be close, but the brilliance of the remaining BBC outside backs might be enough to get them off the hill with a win under their belt.

Brisbane Grammar Vs Nudgee College
Nudgee will feel right at home on the reclaimed mud flats of Northgate. It is after all only a 15 minute BMX from the Boarding House Buffet. Grammar were humbled by the red and black across all the age groups last week, but their firsts have been almost a surprise packet this year. They’ve put up a fight in their first two games and have shown they could be more than some sand in your bikini bottoms this year. That said Nudgee will be fresh after the week off and after a close first half will have too much firepower in the second 35 minutes.
NC by 22
State High Vs Churchie
After a trip to Brassall last week, backed up by a visit to "Stade De-Mountable" this week, the Churchie parents will look like Prince Philip on a tour of the Commonwealth African nations. "One has to go to the outer extremities, but one doesn’t have to look like they enjoy it!"
Notwithstanding that, the Churchie team has played some decent footy so far and they find themselves on top of the table with TSS. That’s courtesy of a solid win over Ippy and a last gasp effort against Terrace.
State High did enough last week up on the range to suggest that they might trouble the blue and grey.
This will be a good game I feel. A couple of Churchie branded deck chairs and a Porsche Cayenne will go missing throughout the afternoon, but Churchie should get away with a narrow win.
