So ok my bad - they would totally send Skelton along to sign autographs because no amount of rehab was going to cut it...

Feel sorry for Horwill. He did not play badly in the Rugby Championship.

don't see why people are so down on Douglas, i thought he played well against Fiji and did well when he came on last weekend. Cheika clearly sees a lot in him. he wins his lineouts, generally is pretty accurate and effective in cleanouts, can't recall him coughing up much ball in contact, he did drop a pass if i recall

He was worse then Horwill was in the Rugby Championship, especially in regards to hitting rucks hard, making dominate tackles, which is what he is there for.

I disagree about his accuracy in clean-outs. I think he is getting better though, and hopefully can peak soon - but then again I'm worried it's just too soon after injury.

So far he has two lineout takes. Missed three tackles from 12 attempts and made 5m in total from 7 carries. It's not enough

Needs to be talked about in higher circles than the roar.com.au. He's been doing it for so long and no one seems prepared to do anything

Wonder if Kaplan's opinions are read - I assume thay've just been recycled on the Roar and must have been posted somewhere else. Isn't he some sort of journalist or commentator these days?

If there taking Skelton's role, there is a very good chance we will see them on bench and playing the last 20mins. Horwill would fit this role well like he did against SA in the Rugby Championship.

Otherwise we have Mumm on the bench who doesn't offer the enforcer type of impact off the bench. Mumm is better cover for Fardy and Simmons.

He isn't completely going to fill Skelton's role you wouldn't think. There is a shift in the pecking order now, so instead of possibly carrying 2 locks on the bench we will have 1 lock and McCalman. Carter will join the other 7 blokes who will only see injury enforced game time from hereon in.

What I was trying to say before was that I also would prefer Horwill if this replacement was to be going straight in to the 23. But as it's primarily a dirt tracker role we may as well develop Carter.

I could be wrong of course.

Didn't find anything about the England scrums on the site, but Kaplan, Brian Moore and sundry others had an extended twitter conversation about Marler angling in over here.

EDIT: This gif was included in part of that tweeter convo.

Dirt tracker role? All of our ensuing games are essentially knock-out games. What/which dirt tracker team is Carter going to be trotted out against? Wales?

World Cups are not for developing players otherwise TGC would have called up a guy like Rory Arnold not a 10-test Wallaby.

Let me guess, Brian Moore thought it was magnificent?

He was actually non-committal in that twitter conversation. Said no official seems to be able to ref a scrum today, and that once a prop on either side starts to angle in, they all shift. Did try to hold that the photos didn't really show who started to bore in where, but after the gif was shown, he didn't say anything.

Brian Moore didn't say anything, and that speaks volumes.

OK dirt tracker was the wrong term as there are no other B team games. My point is that I expect his role to be limited as far as game time goes, there are 7 other blokes in the same boat. Obviously if we get another lock injury he is the next elevated in to the 23.
