most the good flyhalves in aus and in other countries, eg..quade, pollard, farrell, cruden and barrett, were all capped for their country well and truly by the time they were 21/22. Not looking super hopeful for greene and mcintyre being good. yeh solid, sure. Club rugby? great. NRC? solid but nothing standout. Super rugby? hmm

Maybe they will make it,maybe they won't.
The issue for me is that both plan A & plan B rely on untested rookies to be the quarterback.
Plan C another rookie that was thrown into the fire early last year?
It's been said over & over, the fool in charge is clearly incompetent.

A lot depends on luck and injuries.

Gill is an example of this, he deserves to be a capped Wallaby but given who was around when he started out he could easily have missed out. He was fortunate that people retired or got injured to get his shot, Hooper even more so. If Gill was not the junior Wallaby captain then Hooper would never have got a start and who knows what would have occurred.

I dont know if Greene and Mcintyre are word class but I dont see them being too less skilled than Foley and he made a world cup final.

yep yep 100% fair.

However I'm Gonna take that and run with it. Think Foley is overrated, butttt only because, and this is just as much a reflection on the style and skills of the other players, he seems to really struggle directing the team without a 2nd, and in many instances, a more effective 'playmaker'. Foley isn't a play maker, he's a distributor.

That's where I think the reds will struggle and what genia and quade brought. They were play - makers. ATM we don't have a play maker, we have distributors. I think we do, and will continue to, lack direction and clarity in attacking play without a play-maker who is sound at reading the game, making decisions and organising the troops accordingly.

Maybe so - but they both have good skills to bring to the table and, to be honest, one of the mistakes I think that is being made with a lot of these players - including some on your list above - is they are being fast tracked too quickly.

I think you will be surprised how good Frisby will be. I would have picked him last year ahead of Genia to start the season, it turned out he was required at 10 anyway and he did a pretty good job out of position.

My only concern with Frisby is his arguing with the referee, just play the ball at the ruck, dont appeal for a penalty

I mentioned Frisby because I think he will make decisions, read the game and organise until the 10's are good enough. Khunt will also be able to do this

The whole recruiting team need an overhaul at the QRU. I have heard of players being offered contracts when they are heading to their cars and being asked to sign them that night and bring them back. Players asking things and the QRU never getting back to them. From my understanding that has created a real us vs them culture at Ballymore between the players and the QRU which means death to any chance of any success on the field. Until they do a full revamp of the place like they did in 2009 then we are doomed.

I missed the trial game, but will make this one. But I heard that Frisby was making poor kicking options/executions, and was hogging the crap out of the ball.

Quote " everyone looked like they were out for themselves, it look liked an u12 A team where it's a bunch of kids all thinking they will make it happen".

This is hearsay, but I'm more inclined to believe this over Frisby being an effective game manager for Super Rugby team.

The weather was bad - rained the whole game which made things difficult and Frisby got some bad ball - I recall one pass off a ruck that Gill gave him that he had to pick up off the ground/toes and then had Crusaders forwards all over him. Yes he did box kick too much - whether that was under instructions or due to the weather we don't know. In the NRC, which is where we have had the opportunity to see Frisby play in his position for whole games he has directed them well and taken good options. Super Rugby is a step up for sure but I think that he deserves the chance to show what he can do.

I am not a fan of the "Box kick", I thought with Genia gone we had seen the last of the persistent Box kicking but alas, it must be in the coaching instruction book at the Reds. In fact I would like to start a"fucktheboxkickandletsruntheball" fan club.

How many games will Graham last?

Quote this post with your answer and I will have Gagger send the winner/s a stubby cooler*.

*Prize to be shipped by the Reds Membership team and likely be "lost", you might get it for the start of next season.

Let me get this straight, your championship winning coach has left to coach the Wallabies and his assistant that had been groomed for 12 months to take over the role is now in charge? Sounds eerily familiar.....

You're predicting a 57-3 win first up? Bold. You're possibly throwing stones inside your glasshouse and have no idea. The irony is delicious!
