Hayne must be a chance of being appointed as the first CEO/Coach of a Super Rugby team at the Reds next year.

He has no experience with either of course but the level of enthusiasm and sheer will to follow his dreams are undeniable. Nothing can stand in his way.

I don't see the issue, he is a talented athlete, ARU has recruited their fair share of rugby league over the years..

He will either make it or he won't, Ben Ryan doesn't trike me as the kind of coach who will recruit a player purely on their off-field profile.. If Hayne proves his talent and fitness then there is no reason why he shouldn't be Included for Rio..

Heck, Fiji Rugby could certainly use the publicity and marketing boost.

At my work AFL is probably the most popular code (lots of people from VIC, SA and WA). They were talking about Hayne today. commenting it's going to be hard to crack into the best 7s team in the world.

Not something I expected to hear at my work

Yeah but now he's trying to crack into a team filled with 'unbelievable athletes' to compete in a competition where that's pretty much the standard. Something league trolls like Weidler don't seem to understand is that unlike the 9s, 7s in Rugby isn't some preseason sideshow. It's a serious sport with highly tuned athletes.

If Hayne wants to see a good example of his challenge he should look at the USA's Nate Ebner. An established NFL player (which is more than Hayne was likely to ever achieve) who grew up playing Rugby. Knew a couple of months before his announcement he wanted to try his hand at 7s and started training for it. He also plays regularly in a local touch league. He's been in camp for 6-8 weeks now and is still catching up. He'll likely make it as he was actualy a very good Rugby player before going to American Football.

Heard on the Rush Hour on MMM a couple of weeks ago that Hayne was going to Fiji 7s if he didn't make the cut for the 49ers, which they seem to infer was a good possibility based on that backup plan.

Not surprising. Can't see him playing a big part even if he makes the team. Then back to the NRL next year.

What does it means? Is Rugby 7s more popular than Rugby XV among the outsiders or just in your work?

Jarryd Hayne's decision has put sport on the front page for a moment.
Those at my work really don't know much about either version, but they will now be looking to see what happens in London. If he makes the Olympic team, they'll watch that too.

Hayne has never played rugby. He is an athlete though and was a National Schoolboy champion in the 100 m hurdles without even training. I think he will be there even if they have him coming on and who knows maybe some of his big sponsors might splash some $$$$ towards the Fijians as they will want Hayne there

The WADA-compliant World Rugby Regulation 21 mirrors the requirements of the World Anti-Doping Code and the WADA International Standard for Testing and Investigations. Here's a conspiracy theory.
It's just a way for his manager to try and put pressure on the NRL to make some sort of salary cap exception so Hayne can go to a NRL club (Rosters) and keep them under the salary cap, by saying look my boy has a lot of options.
