It was premeditated and it started at the neck and only went up from there - that's what was bullsihit. He had him covered so it was simply foul play for the sake of foul play.
And while I'm at it and have no skin in the game what a frigging grub that Coles is.
The Meads tradition is alive and well.

IS, are you talking about when Coles struck the back of the Irish halfbacks head? (@46.26)

Don't see the difference in the Mumm / Rettalick incident, he should be citied and serve 2 weeks.

The consistency is just not there, and before any Kiwis complain Skelton should have been sitting out some games given Lood De Jagers suspension.

Too much inconsistency and too much special treatment for the All Blacks of recent times.

I think it's a bit much to say the ABs play under a different set of rules, but there was plenty of foul play in this game.

I think sometimes the refs get in their heads 'don't ruin the spectacle with a card, that wasn't so bad' and good teams utilise that and play to the standards set. That being said, the ABs got cards but maybe the colour was wrong because of reasons above.

On the Cane one, I assume they have cited him for the possibility his shoulder hit the Irish players head. Looked fairly innocuous to me, and appears to have been dealt with sufficiently on the field. Unless there is a different angle showing something else to the one in the article he would be unlucky to be suspended.

Anyways, all the talk about Ireland beating NZ at the 29th attempt over 111 years got me to wondering when was the last time NZ lost to someone for the first time? Turns out to have been a while:
